Georgia O'Keeffe Furniture

American, 1887-1986
Georgia Totto O'Keeffe (November 15, 1887 – March 6, 1986) was an American modernist painter and draftswoman whose career spanned seven decades and whose work remained largely independent of major art movements. Called the "Mother of American modernism", O'Keeffe gained international recognition for her meticulous paintings of natural forms, particularly flowers and desert-inspired landscapes, which were often drawn from and related to places and environments in which she lived. In 2014, O'Keeffe's 1932 painting Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1 sold for $44,405,000. After her death, the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum was established in Santa Fe. Early years: She moved to New York in 1918 and began working seriously as an artist. O'Keeffe created many forms of abstract art, including close-ups of flowers, such as the Red Canna paintings, that many found to represent vulvas, though O'Keeffe consistently denied that intention. The imputation of the depiction of women's sexuality was also fueled by explicit and sensuous photographs of O'Keeffe that her husband had taken and exhibited. O'Keeffe and Stieglitz ( her Husband) lived together in New York until 1929, when O'Keeffe began spending part of the year in the Southwest, which served as inspiration for her paintings of New Mexico landscapes and images of animal skulls, such as Cow's Skull: Red, White, and Blue (1931) and Summer Days (1936). later years: After Stieglitz's death, she lived in New Mexico her Home and Studio in Abiquiú until later years of her life, when she lived in Santa Fe. A scarce and unusual 'Weekend Mirror' style teaser quad for the British release of Stanley Kubrick's 1980 modern horror masterpiece 'The Shining,' starring Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall. With anticipation building for the October 1980 British release, Warner Bros. made the canny marketing decision to reproduce a tabloid newspaper spread from the Saturday, August 30, 1980, edition of the Daily Mirror, on "the tide...

Georgia O'Keeffe, 'One Hundred Flowers', Coffee Table or Library Book, 1980s
By Georgia O'Keeffe
Located in New York, NY
Georgia O'Keeffe, 'One Hundred Flowers', coffee table or library book, 1987. American Modernism; a very beautiful book of enlarged artwork of flowers by the amazing American painter, Georgia O'Keeffe (1887-1986.) "A flower is relatively small. Everyone has many associations with a flower--the idea of flowers. You put out your hand to touch the flower--lean forward to smell it--maybe touch it with your lips almost without thinking--or give it to someone to please them. Still in a way--nobody sees a flower--really--it is so small--we haven't time-and to see take time like to have a friend takes time. If I could paint the flower exactly as I see it no one would see what I see because I would paint it small like the flower is mall." "So I said to myself--I'll paint what I see-what the flower is to me but I'll paint it big and they will be surprised into taking time to look at it-- Georgia O'Keeffe, "About Myself," 1939. Image #9: Georgia O'Keeffe, Lake George, NY, 1918. Photographed by Alfred Stieglitz (her future husband.) Publisher: Alfred A. Knopf, New York Published: First Edition, 1987 Printed and bound: Japan Binding: Perfect-bound, hard-cover, with four color process 'dust' jacket Front Jacket Cover: 'Jimson Weed...
