Inspired by drawings made by children, Hiltner has created a chaotic narrative of surreal figures and animals drawn in red acrylic across an expanse of raw canvas in this over 6 feet wide painting. A central palm tree in red outline with black leaves divides the pyramidal composition that is completed with select sections painted in with red, turquoise, white and periwinkle. The sky is brushed, bright yellow. This work is aptly titled referring to a series of protests that occurred in the Middle East and North Africa that began in 2010 and became known as the Arab Spring...
