About the artist. Hernando Vines Soto was the Son of a French engineer of Catalan origin and Maria Soto (daughter of a former president of Honduras and a native Guatemalan), and nephew of the pianist Ricardo Viñes . With the outbreak of World War I , the Viñes leave Paris and after visiting several points of the French geography, settle in Madrid . When he returned to Paris in 1919 , he presented his works to Picasso,who advised him to enter the Academy of Sacred Art founded by Maurice Denis and George Desvallières.. Later, he also attended André Lhote's classes and worked in the studio of Gino Severini . In 1922 , he visited the Monastery of Silos with his father. In 1923 he exhibited for the first time at the Salon d'Automne in Paris and made friends with Manuel Ángeles Ortiz who introduced him to the circle of Spanish painters of what will be called the School of Paris : Joaquín Peinado...
