Hugo Wetli Art

Hugo Wetli was born in 1916. After a draftsman apprenticeship in Bern and training as a graphic artist in Geneva, Wetli worked as a draftsman in a Bernese animation studio and from 1942 for the magazine of a Geneva-based company. From 1949–56 he directed the graphic workshop of the men's clothing company Frey in Olten. He then opened his studio and worked mainly for Swissair and other major companies such as the Swiss traffic center and the SBB. Working with the airline, Wetli has been allowed to travel overseas to the United States, South America, Asia and Africa. His passion for painting was discovered by the illustrator and graphic designer in the 1950s.

This original signed lithograph by acclaimed American artist George Elbert Burr (1859–1939) beautifully depicts a serene winter landscape with snow-covered trees. The image measures 7 ¼ by 10 ¼ inches and is presented in a custom archival frame with overall dimensions of 15 x 17 ¾ inches. Born in Ohio, Burr was largely self-taught, gaining recognition for his detailed etchings and lithographs that captured the American West’s rugged beauty. After years of travel across Europe and the U.S. Southwest, he created iconic series like Mountain Moods and the Desert Set...
