Watson," the African American Museum in Philadelphia, Oct 2021 - Mar 2022. "Most of my works are supported by memories of the past and suggested realities. Issues of social politics, ancestral references, and astral projections are presented with fragmented elements of 'real life' collaged and collapsed, as dreams are prone to do. If connections are made, all the better. I feel that life should remind us of our dreams." - Richard J. Watson Richard J. Watson is an icon in the Philadelphia art world. Much of his work relates to his experiences as a Black African American man. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (1968), has taught at his alma mater, and has served in the Exhibitions Department at the African American Museum in Philadelphia since the 1980s. About the Artist: Amber Goldhammer is renowned for her vibrant abstract works infused with street art influences and uplifting messages. Her creative journey began with pigments, powders, and waxes, evolving into her signature layered style that merges urban energy with abstract elegance. Frequently incorporating the phrase "I Love You" into her series, Goldhammer’s art spreads joy and connection, often transforming public spaces through her impactful murals. Each painting by Goldhammer is a process of discovery—a union of color, texture, and emotion, created instinctively without judgment. Her work bridges the gap between contemporary fine art and street art, appearing on everything from canvases and murals to clothing and accessories. "Set Sail" is more than a painting; it’s an expression of freedom, emotion, and bold creativity. Its interplay of colors and textures captures the imagination, making it a statement piece for collectors of original abstract art, graffiti-inspired works, and modern wall décor. Amber Goldhammer frequently draws inspiration for her palette from nature and the colors of the ocean, saying, “I get to take in the essence of the ocean every day, which fuels my creativity and brings me peace.” She draws a fascinating parallel between her highly coveted paintings and the diverse tapestry of the world around us. Just as a field of flowers may initially appear uniform, upon closer inspection, the intricate beauty of each unique blossom becomes evident. Her artwork mirrors this intricate beauty and complexity, offering a captivating journey for art enthusiasts in search of original, one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect the rich diversity of our surroundings. A worldwide collected young artist with ongoing concurrent exhibitions in galleries throughout the United States and Switzerland, Goldhammer's artworks have also been exhibited at major international art fairs. Her original paintings have been showcased in print and online publications and on such TV series as “Million Dollar Listing,” “Being Mary Jane,” “The Catch” as well as both multi-Emmy® nominated series, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”, and “Scandal.” Goldhammer’s art is also featured on Netflix’s original series, “G.L.O.W.” by “Weeds” creator, Jenji Kohan.
