Mattia Novello Sculptures

Italian, b. 1985

Mattia Novello was born in Thiene on October 6, 1985, and lives and works in Castelfranco Veneto in Italy. He graduated in visual communication at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan, then in fashion photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York, and in mixed media art at the Parsons School of Design, also in New York. Painting, photography, sculpture and installations, in the completeness of the multiple conceptual and operational approaches of Novello against the face of the user an intense note in its objectivity regarding the existence of thought, man as a being, as opinion no convention, art as experimentation, research of a verb as a primary index to indicate the relationships and the fact Fraintensioni as a process of struggle toward a truth that much does not exist.

Following Human Heroes

By Mattia Novello

Located in Rye, NY

‘Following Human Heroes’ is a large conceptual polyurethane and acrylics installation created by Venetian artist Mattia Novello in 2016. Featuring a series of orange basketballs assembled with one another in a manner of a cross, the explanation for this piece is given by the title. While some of the basketballs are partially deflated and the upper one is subtly bowing down, the installation is a reflection on the current trend towards the perception of heroes. As we are living in times when many people view sports figures are “heroes” in their lives, this dynamic wall sculpture is an invitation for a deeper reflection on today’s society, highlighting the underlying paradox where the significance of heroes comes into question. With its strong visual presence and introspective subject, this conceptual wall sculpture will be a stunning focal point in any home. Mattia Novello was born in Vicenza on October 6, 1985 and lives and works in Giorgione’s birthplace in Castelfranco Veneto, ITALY. He graduated in visual communication at the European Institute of Design in Milan, then in fashion photography at the School of Visual Art in New York, and in Mixed Media Art at the Parson School, also in New York. After having won several important art prizes, he focused his research on the synthesis of the opposite, to create a new conscious birth where the individual is recognized and accepted for its unique expression. His artistic research led him to a path that, starting from a reflection on Arte Povera, combines the different rediscovery of ancient materials with the use of the latest technology products.
