English 20th century portrait of an English Frigate in full sail at sea in oils.
Located in Woodbury, CT
English 20th century portrait of an English Frigate in full sail at sea in oils. A very well painted oil on canvas with great detail of a ship cutting through the sea at I'm sure great speed. The piece is an oil on canvas with I think gouache added to the waves to make them a brighter white. The piece is signed Mason and with some investigation, we are attributing this painting to the talented English painter Barry Mason...

19th century English oil of still life of fruit, German Stein with silver lid
By CHARLES THOMAS BALE
Located in Woodbury, CT
Outstanding English 19th century still life of fruit, a German Stein with silver top in an interior. Charles Thomas Bale was born in Soho, London in 1849, the son of Thomas Bale, a basket maker. His older brother Thomas Charles Bale (1831-1899) was an artist and picture restorer. He lived with his family in St James, Westminster and although little is known about his education, he would have undoubtedly received encouragement and drawing tuition from his brother. Bale started exhibiting in 1866 at the Institute of British Artists, Suffolk Street. He also exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1872, the same year he married Caroline Leathem. Together, they spent their married life in St Pancras. He specialized in still life paintings predominantly of fruit, but he frequently incorporated baskets, a homage to his family’s profession, as well as pottery, glass, and game. Bale’s work was influenced by the English still-life artists George Lance and William Duffield...

British Portrait of Two English Children Dog - Circle Sir William Beechey
Located in Miami, FL
This charming portrait is a statement piece for any space. The two elegantly handsome sitters are brother and sister and are accompanied by their loyal dog. With 18th and 19th century British portraiture, it's the sitters' attractiveness that makes a painting desirable and drives price. There are lively brush strokes with impasto in the trees The nameplate identifies the sitters as Robert & Marianne Lawrence-Townsend - The Family of Lawrence-Townsend were originally descendants of the Lawrence Family of Wiltshire who inherited the name Townsend along with an estate, Steanbridge House near Stroud in Gloucestershire. Robert would appear to be the son born in 1797, educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford, former Captain in the British Army and who became a Magistrate for Gloucester. Condition is good with some old repairs. painting beckons with vibrancy. Presents very well and is best viewed with a top key light. Private collection and perhaps Phillips Auctioneers New York 1995 per letter. Framed Size 66 x 43.5 x 4 W.R. Peddigrew, Western Cardiff, South Wales Provenance: The Estate of Mrs. Eleanor Goddard Daniels, Worcester, Massachusetts. Sotheby Parke-Bernet, New York, June 1981 The uploaded video on 1stDibs is coming up a bit off color. American late 20th century Impressionist landscape with figure, cottage, Sheep.
Located in Woodbury, CT
Well painted American Impressionist landscape signed Everet. The artist was a Chinese/American painter who lived and worked in Hackensack, New Jersey. I met the artist on many occasions in the late 1990s when I lived in New York and he was a very talented and pleasant chap. I asked him to paint different commissions for a client who wanted a certain color or subject and he was always able to amaze me with what he could produce. I have many paintings by him in my own collection. This is an oil on canvas. The piece was in a private collection towards the late 1990s and has been recently re-framed and revarnished. The artist worked for an Art Gallery called Art...
