An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Georgian English sterling silver tea caddies; an addition to our silver teaware collection. These exceptional antique George II sterling silver tea caddies have a circular baluster shaped form. The surface of each antique tea caddy is embellished with very sharp, finely chased floral and foliate decoration, incorporating a scroll bordered vacant cartouche to either side. The ornamentation to the body of each piece incorporates a plain applied moulded girdle. These caddies are fitted with a cylindrical push fit covers encircled with leaf decorated textures. An exceptionally rare Irish George III hand cut full lead crystal single tea caddy of rectangular outline with canted corners and outstanding quality, first quarter of the nineteenth century. The finely chased silver mounted rim and hinged cover, hand cut with three bands of lozenges on a plain ground, decorative star cut base underneath. Condition: Exceptional condition for such an early piece, with no losses or clouding inside, silver mounts are unmarked but test positive for silver. Wonderful age wear underneath on base. A Very Fine George II Combination Sugar Bowl/Spoon Tray Made in London in 1753 by Samuel Taylor The Bowl stands on a circular spreading foot which is decorated with reeding. The main body is plain in design with an attractive baluster form and is engraved with a contemporary "Lion Rampant" Crest. The sides then rise to an everted rim. The stepped pull off cover has a finely beaded rim and rises to a circular raised central section, which doubles as the foot of the tray, when in use. The Bowl is fully marked in the foot and with the maker's mark and sterling mark on the cover. This piece is in excellent condition, with a good colour. Samuel Taylor was a specialist maker of Tea Caddies and Sugar Bowls and was apprentice to the Caddy maker John Newton. He had workshops in Maiden Lane, Wood...
