A magnificent Antique George II Sterling Silver Swing Handled Basket with an oval form standing on four shaped feet with bacchanalian faces at the capital of each foot. The Basket has an ornate chased floral & scroll pattern border and an elegant pierced design on the sides. The interior base of this 18th century Silver Basket has a detailed engraved design incorporating the floral and scroll motif of the border surrounding an engraved armorial. Made in London, England in 1745 by Edward Aldridge. Approx. Weight - 1680g / 54.1oz Approx. Length - 36.2cm Approx. Width - 31.3cm Approx.     A very good large silver swing handle basket of pierced oval form. The arched swing handle with two cast female busts arising from a leaf capped double C-scroll support. The cast and applied rim of shaped foliate and floral entwined decoration. The central bowl of the basket engraved with a rocaille cartouche containing an armorial.
