Le Pot de Confiture
By Dale Zinkowski
Located in Wenham, MA
Le Pot de Confiture is an original oil painting on panel. It is framed in a handmade, black frame with gold lip. The overall dimensions of the framed piece are approximately, 14x16 inches. Master Still Life painter Dale Zinkowski was born in New York and his earliest memories of painting and drawing were from his Grandfather's own work, which hung throughout the home. Fascinated by the world around him, and the ability to capture fleeting moments on paper, he began to draw and paint from nature almost exclusively. From 1993-97, he attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City where he studied the Reilly method with both Marvin Mattelson and John F. Murray. Inspired by the techniques, and hungry for more information, he began copying from the old masters at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  When Murray moved his studio to Tucson, Arizona, Dale followed and focused his studies on the palettes, methods, and materials of artists such as Velazquez and Rembrandt.  In 2012, Dale attended the Florence Academy of Art in Italy, where he pushed his understanding of traditional techniques and materials even further while drawing and painting master copies in museums and painting landscapes in the countryside.  In 2013, Dale returned to New York City, where he immersed himself in the full-time program at Grand Central Atelier studying under Jacob Collins, Ted Minoff, Will St. John and Colleen Barry...

Red Ice Block Tongs
By John Morfis
Located in Sag Harbor, NY
An oil painting of an antique pair of tongs, meant for use during ice fishing. Suspended from a small rope, hanging from a single nail, against a grey backdrop. Brushstrokes can be seen in the gray of the background, but are harder to make out on the subject. Morfis paints in an extremely refined, realist approach. Painting dimensions: 25 x 19 inches Framed dimensions: 30 x 24 x 1.5 inches Available at Grenning Gallery. BIOGRAPHY John Morfis was born in Glen Cove, Long Island in 1976. His humble beginnings made pursuing a career in art difficult and paradoxically necessary. Fixated on making things aesthetically pleasing, John made an extreme departure from his family life when he chose to base his life on art. Surrounded by mechanics, welders, and otherwise trade workers John had a tough time expressing his interest in a world much more utilitarian and much less expressive and impractical. With an extraordinary desire to be an artist and a grant awarded, John was able to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting from the University of Hartford in 1998. While there John studied oil painting under American realist Stephen Brown. John’s first solo show took place in 2007 at the Ellen Traut Collection Gallery in Hartford, CT and was a near sell out. Since then John has had success up and down the northeastern coast of the United States working with various galleries and collectors. His work has also appeared in various group shows at the New Britain Museum of American Art in Connecticut. ARTIST STATEMENT Each painting, although a portrait of a tired hand...

Still Life with Yellow Flowers
By William Acheff
Located in Los Angeles, CA
WILLIAM ACHEFF "STILL LIFE WITH YELLOW FLOWERS" OIL ON CANVAS, SIGNED AMERICAN, C.1980 18 X 24 INCHES William Acheff b. 1947 William Acheff brilliantly captures the illusory qualities and lifelike perfection that is demanded in a classic trompe l'oeil painting. His realistic compositions often reflect the distinctive influences of Native American cultures and of the Southwest, where he makes his home. From an early age, Acheff had an interest in painting. Though he studied art in high school, he never dreamed of becoming a painter. It was not until several years later, while working as a barber in his California salon, that Acheff had the opportunity to meet the Italian artist, Roberto Lupetti. The Italian awakened Acheff's interest in art once again. He soon began an intense European-style apprenticeship with Lupetti, spending five days a week for six months studying with the Italian master. Acheff's lifelong interest became a passion. In 1973, Acheff moved to Taos, New Mexico, to separate himself from the influences of his teacher. It was in Taos that Acheff found his niche. Acheff, who is of Alaskan Athabascan heritage, has a special affinity for the historical and cultural artifacts that he chooses to paint. The appealing forms and designs of the Indian pots...
