This homage to New York City is an evocative tribute to Peter Liepke's adopted home town, the urban metropolis he chose over his native Minnesota. This is not just another group of photographs of obvious NYC landmarks in Manhattan. When the artist chooses to include an iconic structure, he presents a startling perspective, literally and figuratively. This ongoing portfolio is especially noteworthy for being inclusive of all five boroughs. By depicting scenes from everyday life that emphasize the human aspects of city life, the artist taps into our collective psyches for memorable moments personally experienced in the City that never sleeps. “For this series I wanted to go back and attempt to remember my feelings or first impressions upon arriving in New York City as an outsider for the first time, well over twenty years ago,” Liepke explains.
