About Aquilo Interiors
Aquilo Interiors is an interior architecture and design studio creating immersive residential environments where architecture, art, and storytelling come together to shape the way people experience home.
Led by founder and Creative Director Carmen René Smith, the studio approaches every project as a complete environment rather than a collection of rooms. Each home is thoughtfully composed through interior architecture, custom detailing, carefully curated furnishings, and meaningful objects that reflect the lives of the people who inhabit them. The result is spaces that feel layered, deeply personal, and impossible to mistake for anyone else's.
Classically trained in both Architecture (B.Arch) and Fine Art, Carmen's work balances imagination with precision, drawing inspiration from history, craftsmanship, culture, and the natural world. Aquilo collaborates closely with architects, artisans, fabricators, and makers to create homes that are both technically rigorous and emotionally resonant.
The studio intentionally takes on a limited number of projects each year, allowing every client the time, curiosity, and attention needed to create environments that unfold beautifully over time.
Beyond design, Aquilo is guided by a larger purpose: creating spaces that enrich the lives of both people and animals, with a long-term vision of supporting sanctuary environments through the work the studio creates.
