19th century carved walnut folding scissors Savonarola bench or settee featuring a carved shields in the back leather. Typical of the Italian Renaissance with carved Florentine structure . This pair created in the 19th century, most likely 1840s-1850s, are in good condition, the wood restored but the leather is damaged. The Savonarola chair is a type of folding chair with an X-frame when viewed from the front or back. It was designed to fold so it was portable and used during campaigns or other outdoor pursuits. The title Savonarola comes from the name of Italian Renaissance Dominican friar, Girolamo Savonarola, who is renowned for his clash with tyrannical rulers and corrupt clergy. A pair of very elegant 1950s T.H. Robsjohn–Gibbings model 2009 slipper chairs for Widdicomb, with classic sculpted walnut frames on splayed legs. This version of his slipper chairs, is far less seen on the market as his larger version WMB model. The frames will be refinished, prior to shipping. Upholstery needs to be replaced, email for quote. Handsome and iconic Scandinavian Modern Scissor lounge chair designed by Folke Ohlsson for DUX. It is in wonderful vintage condition. The wood frame has been restored; however, there may still be small signs of age. We did have to fill some rather deep flaws in the wood. The straps have been replaced with appropriate new straps. And the foam cushions are new and newly upholstered. Please see photos, circa 1950s. Now you can get all your DUX in a row!! Sorry, I couldn’t resist. This is the iconic and beautiful Scissor Lounge Chair. It was designed by Folke Ohlsson for his company DUX, Inc. purportedly in 1949. Its walnut frame has been completely restored and we have replaced all the straps, which were beyond repair, with proper strapping. Lovely vintage Mid-Century Modern coral frieze upholstered modified slipper chair with round tapered walnut legs. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The padding in the chair is a bit stiff and may eventually need redone.
