Model #2 Eduard Stellmacher and Co, Porzellanfabrik und Kunstkeramische Industriewerke Driven to establish a new company that produced luxury porcelain and ceramic items based on his own aesthetic aspirations, Stellmacher left Amphora when the workshop was at its most prosperous, in 1904. Together with entrepreneur Karl Frank, who provided the financial backing, he founded Ed. Stellmacher & Co. in Turn-Teplitz in 1905. From the outset, Stellmacher worked hard to achieve a major position among other high-end ceramic art producers. He believed the success of the company would depend on his products of “appropriate methods and unerring quality, perfect from both the technical and artistic sides”. Stellmacher based his first collection on artistically progressive products, pieces he believed would be in high demand. The greater part of the designs were either large vases complemented with sculptures of fantastic dragons or natural animals. With this series, Stellmacher continued the themes he had created for Amphora from 1899-1902, however, his naturalistic renderings of animals was even more elaborately precise. He developed a special ceramic material called refined earthenware, which minimized the shrinkage that was common during firing and allowed for greater preservation of details in the original models. Unfortunately, by 1905, contrary to Stellmacher’s plans, there was little to no demand for objects of this type. Very few pieces exist today as very few were originally produced. Even after redirecting the company to produce commercial goods Stellmacher still could not ward off the company’s demise. By 1910 the Stellmacher & Co. fell into bankruptcy and was liquidated. Art Nouveau Dragon...

This remarkable punch bowl is an exquisite example of Chinese export porcelain from the 18th century, made circa 1736 during the Qing Dynasty. Crafted for the European market, it exemplifies the refined artistry and technical mastery that made Chinese porcelain highly prized across the globe. The bowl is decorated in the Famille Rose palette, a style introduced in the early 18th century and characterized by its delicate pastel shades of pink, green, yellow, and blue. The exterior features carefully painted shaped panels, each illustrating detailed figural scenes rendered with great precision. These narrative vignettes depict figures in period attire engaged in daily and ceremonial activities, providing a rare glimpse into 18th century Chinese life as interpreted for European collectors. The decorative scenes are further elevated by raised gilt gold accents, applied with skill to highlight borders and motifs, enhancing both texture and visual depth. The punch bowl itself is expertly formed with a gently rounded body and slightly flared rim, creating an elegant silhouette that balances both form and function. Its surface is smooth and well-preserved, reflecting the high-quality porcelain and meticulous craftsmanship characteristic of mid-18th century Chinese export ware. The piece also retains its original antique tag...

Antique Italian Naples Gold Gilt Bronze Ormolu Keys Tray Decorative Vide-Poche Italy Bronze c. 1900 Dimensions: H x W x D: 3cm x 14.5cm x 13.5cm Depicting the side profile of a bearded man, this tray dates to around 1900 and was crafted in Naples, Italy. Its function is both decorative and practical, with the potential to be used as a key or trinket tray, also known as a vide-poche, or simply as a purely decorative feature. Vide-poches emerged in the 18th century as small catch-all trays placed in hallways, parlours, and dressing rooms, reflecting the period’s growing attention to domestic order and personal accessories. By the early 20th century, they had become both practical and decorative objects, and this tray is a fine example of that tradition. Cast in bronze and gilded, the tray presents a side profile of a man. The casting is superb, with clearly defined anatomical features that give the piece depth and texture, enhancing its visual interest. Particularly impressive is the treatment of the hair, where the braids, moustache, and beard are distinctly rendered. The reverse is stamped with an indistinct maker’s mark “C. CARM […] / NAPOLI”, indicating that the piece was crafted in Italy. The tray is supported by four circular feet, which give it a slight elevation. Of a highly interesting design, this tray reflects the contemporary fashion for small trinket dishes...
