The hinged lid is banded in satinwood, fabulously hand-painted and varnished with a large central circular conch shell. The front area has similar painted decorations; all places are decorated with satinwood stringing. Condition: Excellent condition with nice patination and no losses. A lock is present, and a later key is also current but does not activate the lock. We think the woven black fabric inside the cover has been added later; it is nicely done.
