Ronan Bouroullec Baton Candle Holder For Bd Barcelona

By Ronan Bouroullec

Located in Barcelona, Barcelona

Ronan Bouroullec Baton Candle Holder For Bd Barcelona The Baton collection was designed by Ronan Bouroullec and is produced by BD. Its sublime simplicity carves around the shape of a cane. The Baton finds its place in a room as a screen divider, a candleholder, a vase, a valet stand, a side table or a mirror. It strikes a balance between a fluent, curving line and a slim and unimposing frame. As a standalone or group, the Baton represents Bouroullec’s emphasis on refining function and form. The system changes interiors. It generates an intimate feeling in the home or a shared space, with an appealing design that is subtle and concise. A minimal frame with multiple uses. Dimensions and technical drawing Ø 12,5 x h.60 cm Ø 5 x h.23,5 in Materials and finishes Base in gravity die casting steel, polished and powder coated in textured black. Inox steel polished curved tube. Steel rod fixed to the base, powder coated in black matt. Different options available for the fabric space divider. When folded, horizontal rod used to hang the fabric is stored fixed on the vertical rod by two clipping systems. He went to the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art when he was 17. The following year he exhibited for the first time at the Salon du Meuble in Paris. His brother joined him in Paris in 1998, and he opened a small studio in 1999, the same year he was awarded the New Designer Award by the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York. Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec began partnerships with names such as Vitra, and their designs and ongoing partnership led to numerous other collaborations with international design companies. Their designs have spanned multiple fields of expression, from craftsmanship to mass production, beyond the realm of furniture design into technology and art. Permanent public space installations have been produced around the world, and they have been represented in some of the most important international institutions such as MoMA New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Centre National d'Art et de Culture Georges-Pompidou in Paris, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Gingko Candlesticks by Mark Bankowsky
Gingko Candlesticks by Mark Bankowsky

Gingko Candlesticks by Mark Bankowsky

By Marc Bankowsky

Located in Palm Desert, CA

These bronze gingko leaf candlesticks inspired by the naturalistic designs of the Art Nouveau period are by Marc Bankowsky. Originally conceived for the restaurant of famed French restauranteur Pierre Gognaire, they proved popular enough that they are now offered to a wider audience. The focal point are the 2 leaves of the gingko. The top of the leaves are scored, the undersides are smooth. The candles are supported by a wonderful spiraling detail at the center of each leaf. Naturalistically cast, with the high areas polished, these candlesticks are hand signed by the artist (see image #10) as well as his cipher that is in the mold. Currently, we have 2 pair available and the collection of 4 would make an impressive statement on a large table. Offered for less as we were able to acquire these on the secondary market, here's your chance! Online Bio (artsy): "Designer and decorator Marc Bankowsky creates furniture and accessories using materials including metal, plaster, resin, and lambswool. Often inspired by the natural world, Bankowksy has produced candlestick-holders and sconces in the form of flowers and leaves, and bronze table legs...

Pair of Louis Seize Fire Gilded Candlesticks France 1800 by F. Barbedienne

Pair of Louis Seize Fire Gilded Candlesticks France 1800 by F. Barbedienne

Located in Salzburg, AT

Pair of strict classicistical fire gilded candlesticks France 1840, signed Barbedienne. Strict classicist design with square base, flowers and leaf ornaments in different finish. Decorated and smooth elements in alternation create otically balanced object. The widest part of the stem is 4.0cm Ferdinand Barbedienne (* August 6, 1810 in Saint-Martin-de-Fresnay, Calvados department, France; † March 21, 1892 in Paris) was a French sculptor, bronze ware manufacturer, and gallery owner. One of the most important and popular Éditeurs d'art, or publishers of art articles, he had most of the French sculptors of his time under contract. Life and work Ferdinand Barbedienne was the son of a farmer. At the age of 13, he learned the Craft of saddlery. In 1822 he moved to Paris, where he first worked as a clerk in a wallpaper shop. He received start-up capital from his employer to open his own store, which he set up on Rue Notre-Dame-de-Lorette in 1834. He pursued the idea of exhibiting bronze statues in addition to his core business and mass producing them in small format. In 1838, he joined forces with the mechanic Achille Collas, who had developed the machine á reduction (réducteur for short); a device based on the principles of the pantograph that could reproduce three-dimensional objects in any size - reduced or enlarged. On November 29, 1838, both signed the founding contract for the company Société Ferdinand Barbedienne et Achille Collas, which aimed to commercially exploit the mechanized production of sculptural works for an initial 20 years. Barbedienne took care of the commercial management of the company, while Collas contributed the patent on his invention and seven existing machines, and with his profound knowledge of machinery was responsible for the production processes. Together they decided on the subject matter of the objects, the selling prices, and all other financial matters. In 1841, they produced casts of the Apollo of Belvedere, the Spinario, and 21 pieces with the motif of a bas-relief of the Parthenon. These were followed by versions of the Laocoon group, the Venus of Arles, and the Borghese Fencer, among others. Special interest was initially shown in works from antiquity, for which casts from the Atelier de Moulage in the Louvre served as models. The company continued to produce works by representatives of the Renaissance such as Michelangelo, Donatello, Giovanni Bologna or by French sculptors such as Jean Goujon, Jean-François Flamand, Pierre Puget, François Girardon, Antoine Coysevox...
