Rare & fabulous Antique Napoleon lll clock garniture with incredible quality bronze sculptures. You will rarely see a clock garniture with bronzes of this quality and detail. The bearded thinker/philosopher on top of the marble clock is simply astonishing. His natural poisture, his hair, face and hands, but also his clothes, it is all of a quality and detail that only a master sculptor can achieve. And the patina also is just perfect. The philosopher is marked on the back and it reads 'BE x'. The two bronze female (classical maiden) sculptures are in fact two stunning candle holders and they too stand on beautifully shaped black marble bases with cartouches. These majestic candle holders are marked on the sides 'L.V.E. ROBERT' (Louis Valentin Elias Robert) and on the back they read 'AD x'. The black marble clock comes with a circular dial face with gilt Roman numerals and this clock has a well working movement. The movement is stamped 'DENIERE / A PARIS' and '2165'. On the bottom it reads A.Blacher and there also is a cachet with 'MEDAILLE D'OR / Paris / 1827'. If you like this one of a kind, clock set as much as we do then you will love our price. A fine antique French eight day mantle clock, gilded and fitted with Sevres porcelain plaques, circa 1830. An early French silk suspension clock, with an eight day time and strike movement, gently sounding the hours and half hour on a bell. The clock is housed in an extravagant gilded gesso Rococo style case and standing on an integral plinth. The clock with a silvered dial having a cuff of engine turned decoration around the center and black Roman numerals to the outside of the dial and the retailer's name "Carl Muller in Berlin" to the center. The base of the clock is fitted with a round hand-painted floral 'Sevres' porcelain plaque, the clock plinth is fitted with a rectangular 'Sevres' plaque, hand-painted with a pastoral scene with a young courting couple and grazing sheep & goats. An Exceptional Early English Fusee Carriage Clock Attributed to Thomas & James Ferguson Cole London, circa 1833–1838 An exceptional early English fusee carriage clock, attributable to Thomas Cole and his brother James Ferguson Cole, two of the most important and innovative English clockmakers of the nineteenth century. Although unsigned by the brothers themselves, this clock can be confidently attributed on stylistic, technical, and constructional grounds, as documented by John Hawkins in The Hawkins Pictorial Survey of Cole Clocks, Part I. This example represents a Phase I, Type I Cole carriage clock, placing it among the very earliest surviving carriage clocks produced by the Cole brothers. The design and engraving are characteristic of Thomas Cole, while the movement is the work of his elder brother James Ferguson Cole, whose bespoke mechanisms are widely regarded as technically superior and highly individual. The clock is fitted with an eight-day single-chain fusee movement with English lever escapement, the backplate numbered 2020. Hawkins illustrates an almost identical backplate on p. 400. Of particular importance is the distinctive reinforcing bridge to the mainspring, a hallmark of early James Ferguson Cole movements.
