Fannières Frères Desk Clock Time Allegory Chased gilt and silvered bronze Desk Clock With an allegorical theme of Time in the form of a cherub supporting a globe enclosing the movement and indicating the hours engraved in Roman numerals. he is seated on a contoured canal terrace flanked by bouquets. On a green marble base with cavet molding, ormolu feet. Signed "Fannière Fres" Circa 1860 Fannière Frères is a company founded in 1839 by François-Auguste Fannière (Longwy 1818-Paris 1900) and Fran-çois-Joseph-Louis Fannière (Longwy 1820-Paris 1897), nephews and pupils of the goldsmith Fauconnier. At the same time draughtsmen, sculptors, chisels and manufacturers, they worked for the main goldsmiths of Paris, Odiot, Froment-Meurice and Christofle, and exhibited only from 1862 under their own names. The house was taken over in 1900 by the son of François-Joseph-Louis Fannière, then by Fernand Poisson.
