A fine late 19th-century Bohemian amber glass jewelry casket or table box, formed with a hinged domed lid, rounded rectangular body, and patinated metal mounts with latch and hinge. The translucent yellow-amber glass is decorated with finely etched scenic panels, including architectural and landscape motifs rendered in pale frosted contrast against the warm glass body. The combination of amber glass, engraved decoration, and mounted casket form gives the piece the intimate luxury associated with Victorian-period dressing table objects and Continental decorative glass. Research into comparable examples supports a Bohemian attribution, particularly within the late 19th-century tradition of engraved amber, ruby, and colored glass caskets with gilt or patinated metal mounts. Antique French Baccarat Opaline Perfume Casket Box with Four Bottles This opaline perfume casket is formed as an oval box with softly rounded corners and a domed hinged lid. The body is constructed from opaque white opaline glass panels fitted within a continuous gilt bronze framework. The lid opens on rear hinges to reveal a fitted interior designed to hold four square perfume bottles, each topped with a gilt bronze stopper. The interior is organized with a shaped gilt bronze cradle and separators that secure each bottle individually. The exterior mount includes a front escutcheon with a keyhole aperture, flanked by applied scrolling feet at each corner, raising the casket slightly above the surface. A delicate gilt bronze swing handle is mounted at the sides, allowing the casket to be lifted as a single unit. The underside is enclosed with a matching opaline glass panel framed in bronze. The casket is identified as a French Baccarat opaline perfume casket. Baccarat is documented as a manufacturer of opaline glass objects and luxury toiletry items during this period, supplying fitted boxes and perfume sets for domestic and dressing table use. The attribution is based on material, construction, and documented Baccarat production of comparable opaline caskets...

Heavy Antique French Baccarat Milky White Opaline Crystal Ormolu Mounted Box This opaline crystal box is formed in a rectangular shape with rounded edges and smooth contours, presenting a milky white surface consistent across all sides. The lid and base align cleanly, creating a unified profile when closed. The opaline body has an even opaque tone, and the interior mirrors the same finish, maintaining continuity between the inner and outer surfaces. Its proportions are balanced, and the glass shows no variation in texture, demonstrating a high level of material quality. The mounts are composed of gilt bronze forming a complete band around the upper and lower sections. This band is decorated with a repeated upright leaf motif, each leaf individually struck into the bronze to create a regular pattern. A circular flower clasp is positioned at the center front, displaying radiating petals and a central raised node. The hinge is fitted neatly within the mount at the back, allowing the lid to lift cleanly without interrupting the outline of the box. The gilding retains an even color, showing well-preserved ormolu throughout. The mounts sit firmly against the glass, indicating a precise and well-executed construction. The box is produced in high-quality opaline crystal associated with Baccarat’s work, known for its weight, density, and consistent coloration. It survives in mint condition, with no chips, cracks, or abrasions to the glass. The ormolu mounts remain structurally sound, and the decorative details of the leaf-pattern band and rosette clasp are clearly defined. The overall presentation reflects the high standards of French opaline caskets...
