It measures 4'' in diameter by 2 1/2'' in height, weighs 4.9 ozt, and bears hallmarks as shown. According to his 1971 obituary from the New York Times, "W. 18th C George 11nd Tall Wine Drinking Glass Solid Stem and Long Tear Domed Foot
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a very good, tall, English, mid-Georgian, hand blown, wine drinking glass, dating to the George II period of the mid-18th century, circa 1740. These 18th Century hand blown drinking glasses are uniquely individual and very collectable. This wine glass is hand blown from English lead glass. It is heavy and has a soft grey color, with some age related wear to the surface and foot rim as expected with well over 250 years of use. The glass has the usual striations, inclusions and tiny bubbles you would expect to see in 18th century glass, which gives these glasses their unique charm, with no two glasses being the same. The glass has a beautifully drawn round funnel (RF) bowl which continues into a thick solid stem enclosing a very decorative long tear and leading to a good domed foot having a rough snapped-off pontil mark to the underside. The "domed" foot tends to be a much rarer foot form. There are no chips, cracks or any evidence of restoration though the glass does have some scratches from use to the underside of the foot. Please see images. Dimensions: Bowl rim diameter: 2.1 inches. Foot diameter: 2.96 inches. Height: 6.82 inches. The glass has a good ring to it when tapped with a finger. We date this glass to the George II period of the 18th century, circa 1740. Similar glasses from the same period are shown in the book: Eighteenth Century English Drinking Glasses...

Georgian Sterling Silver Tankard by John Langlands, Newcastle England 1757
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a fine quality, sterling silver tankard (Lidded Mug) crafted in 1757 (George 11 Period) by John Langlands of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. John Langlands is fully documented as a silversmith and this was his first period (1753-1772) as he was later also in partnership with John Robertson. This very impressive tankard has a plain tapering cylindrical form onto a spreading base. The body of the tankard is encircled with a reeded girdle, two thirds of the way down the body. The body is undecorated, as it should be (many were embellished in the Victorian period) apart from a bright cut initials to the front, reading what looks like "E A " This tankard has its original hallmarked domed cover, surmounted by an impressive Onslow pattern...
