French 19th Century Confit Jar

About the Item

Pre-refrigeration, confit jars extended the life of perishable items. This handsome terra cotta example, made in France in the 19th century, has a mustard-hued glazed interior and undecorated exterior. These wonderfully formed vessels make beautiful decorative items to fill a bookcase or can be used to hold fresh or dried floral arrangements. They also make wonderful storage containers for kitchen utensils. View the detailed images.
