Wedgwood Rosso

A fine Georgian English Terracotta Pottery Jug hand painted in the Rosso Antico style by Wedgwood and dating from the early 19th Century.

We are pleased to offer this antique Wedgwood Rosso Antico stoneware pitcher made in England in the mid-19th century.

Wedgwood black basalt bough pot with lid. The pot with scrolled loop handles, applied rosso antico foliate relief.

The rim and base are decorated with piping in Rosso. Inscribed on the bottom: "Wedgwood" "The Egyptian Jug Sold Only by Woollard and Hattersly, Cambridge," and dated 1854.  

This fascinating rosso antico tea set by Wedgwood is decorated with enameled Chinese peony flowers in the colorful famille rose style.

This is a Rare "ROSSO ANTICO" WEDGWOOD Jug, with a pewter hinged lid, made by the WEDGWOOD Factory, England.

Provenance: With a paper sticker from the Polikoff Collection #252 Wedgwood made this lovely Rosso Antico pitcher circa 1850.

Around the same time, Wedgwood also created a red stoneware that he named Rosso Antico.

Wegwood 'rosso antico' sugar bowl and cover of circular form with pad handles and applied black basalt hieroglyph relief decoration and crocodile finial, impressed 'Wedgwood' mark.

A most attractive vase in Rosso Antico, decorated in black basalt with Arabesque on a dimpled ground. The colour of early Rosso is quite different to the 19th century orange body.
