A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver serving dish with cover made by Robert Garrard II; an addition to dining silverware collection This magnificent antique Victorian sterling silver dish has a rounded hexagonal form. The body of the serving dish is plain and embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of on a cap of maintenance turned up a lion passant*. The plain body is encompassed with a cast and applied rosette border to the rim, accented with a leaf decorated corner pieces. The dish is fitted with an impressive domed hexagonal cover, embellished with chased interlacing foliate and trellis designs, all on a matte background to the rounded sides. The upper portion of the domed cover is ornamented with further chased foliate decoration, accented with a paralleling scalloped border. The cover is surmounted with a magnificent cast hallmarkedsterling silver finial realistically modelled in the form of the aforementioned crest; a cap of maintenance turned up a lion passant. An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Victorian English sterling silver Old English Thread pattern salad servers; an addition to our silver flatware collection These exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver salad servers have been crafted in the Old English Military Thread pattern. The spoon has a plain rounded bowl and the fork has six tines. The anterior surface of each silver server is embellished with the contemporary engraved crest of an eagle rising, in its beak an escutcheon pendent by a ribbon, thereon a hank of cotton. The crest is encompassed with a garter bearing the motto 'Multa tuli fecique' - I have borne and done many things*. The reverse surface of the serving fork and spoon incorporates a pip to the terminal, in addition to a rounded heel to the bowl/drop. This is a superb Ironstone Sauce Tureen, complete with lid , made by Mason's of Lane Delph, Staffordshire, England, during the early part of the 19th century, circa 1820. This tureen is well potted and is hexagonal in shape with moulded animal head handles to the base and a flower head knob to the lid. The pattern is called "Water Lily" and is a well known Mason's pattern, as illustrated on pages 136 in The Mason's collectors Club book " A Guide to Mason's patent Ironstone patterns, c 1813 to c 1848" . This particular piece is the gilded version of the pattern and has heavily applied hand gilded highlights. Tureens of the same shape and period are illustrated on Pages 145 and 155 of Godden's Guide to Mason's China and the Ironstone Wares published by the Antique Collectors' Club. The pattern is beautifully hand painted over a printed pattern with bold enamels of Cobalt Blue, burnt orange, green, puce all in various shades with much additional hand gilding. 18th Century Wine Jug George III England 1kg Sterling Silver Peter & Ann Bateman This impressive wine jug, made in 1795 during the reign of King George III, is an artistic example of the work of the renowned silversmiths Peter and Ann Bateman. The jug rests on a curved base with an elegant fluted profile on the rim and is decorated with a surrounding frieze of leaf motifs in fine ‘bright-cut’ engraving. The indented stem and the amphora-shaped body with vertically curved walls give the jug a classic look. The curved mouth rim with beak-shaped spout ensures harmonious lines, while the hinged lid is domed in the centre and crowned by a spherical knob. The curved wooden C-handle stylishly rounds off the design and provides a comfortable grip. The wide frieze with leaf and flower motifs on the wall, executed in extremely fine ‘bright-cut’ engraving, is particularly noteworthy. The front of the jug is also engraved with initials, giving the piece a personal touch.
