Ezra Ardolino, educated as an architect, is an artist and entrepreneur specializing in digital fabrication at the intersection of art, architecture, and design. With a deep understanding of materiality and robotic manufacturing techniques, he has pioneered the use of Futurewood, an innovative approach to working with plywood as a sculptural medium, in the production of collectible design objects.
In 2009, Ezra founded Timbur, a digital fabrication studio, just outside New York City in Keansburg, NJ, dedicated to pushing the boundaries of CNC and robotic manufacturing. Since its inception, Timbur has collaborated with leading artists, designers, and brands to create highly customized, precision-crafted works that seamlessly blend technology and craftsmanship. It is through those years of hands-on experimentation, collaboration, and problem-solving at Timbur that Ezra has shaped his artistic practice, grounding it in deep technical fluency and a relentless curiosity for how data becomes form.
In 2023, Ezra Ardolino debuted “N90N,” a collectible design series that explores the very moment when digital form transcends its code. Named after the geometric concept of an NGON, a polygon with an infinite number of sides, the collection interrogates the boundary between virtual precision and material reality. Comprising three works - 5P1R4L (spiral), D0U8L3 (double), and 7R1PL3 (triple) - each piece begins as a digital model, composed of finite, countable polygons. As they transform into Futurewood, laminated in layers of plywood, carved, refined, and finished with translucent “Kandy” urethane, they evolve into something unquantifiable. What was once discrete and representational becomes continuous and real. In this way, N90N embodies the core tension at the heart of Ezra’s work: sculptural code manifesting as design objects, elevated through the synthesis of digital and hand craft into forms that can no longer be calculated, only experienced.
