Celebrated for their refined craftsmanship, bold geometric patterns, and monochromatic color schemes, these Moroccan rugs embody an understated beauty that transcends conventional design boundaries. Immersed in luminous fiery hues, this Moroccan rug reveals itself as a canvas of abstract expressionism, reminiscent of painterly brush strokes. Oversized Vintage Rabat Moroccan Rug, Hotel Lobby Size Carpet

Oversized Vintage Rabat Moroccan Rug, Hotel Lobby Size Carpet

By Rabat Village Women

Located in Dallas, TX

77201 Oversized Vintage Moroccan Rug, 13'10 x 18'07. Representing an exclusive category of Moroccan carpets and a sign of wealth, this palatial Rabat Moroccan rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The detailed tribal design and vibrant colorway woven into this piece work together to. Clevery composed and colorfully curated, this oversized vintage Moroccan rug features six superimposed stepped diamond-shaped medallions in bright lime, sunflower yellow and tomato red spread across a creamy-biege field. A variety of ambiguous tribal symbols decorate the field between the medallions, including combs and burdocks. Combs and darts grace the corner spandrels, while stepped hexagons with diamond centers line the edges. The attractive border echoes the graphic designs of the central area and features fetter motifs in alternating colors separated by thin bars with diamond end-caps. Fetters traditionally symbolize family union, while combs, diamonds, and burdocks are seen to protect against evil. Not exactly subtle but enough to make a statement, this colorful Moroccan rug is charming and fun. Unlike most other Moroccan rugs, Rabat city rugs exhibit Anatolian designs and influence, though it is unclear how these designs came to Morocco many centuries ago. According to Indianapolis Museum of Arts, The Fabric of Moroccan Life, the women weavers of Rabat tell a legend that one day 'a stork dropped into the courtyard of a house a piece of rug- whose colors and design were hitherto unknown in the land- the women weavers of the house saw it as a gift from heaven, a talisman, and a good omen, and so were inspired by it. The people of Rabat consider wool to be as precious as gold and a variety of rituals surround the making of their rugs. They are known to be able to create bright and saturated polychromatic color schemes with a narrow palette. Perfect for a large entertaining space, hotel lobby, lounge area, drawing room, country club, academic library, golf locker room, trophy room, private Chambers, great room, wine cellar, executive suite, conservatory, state room, royal suite, billiards room, owners retreat, dining room, living room, or formal sitting room. Rustic yet refined, this oversized Moroccan rug would complement mountain living for luxury ski chalets, secluded hunting lodges and rustic ranches found in Montana, Colorado, Lake Tahoe, Wyoming, or the Adirondacks. Rendered in variegated shades of beige, red, blue, green, amethyst, and yellow with other accent colors. Tag on the back reads: Morocco, Rabat. Abrash. Made by the Rabat Village Women. Made in Morocco. Measures: 13'10 x 18'07. Hotel Lobby Size Carpet 14 x 19 Rug...

Vintage Moroccan Boucherouite Rug, Handwoven with Abstract Design, 6' x 7'

Vintage Moroccan Boucherouite Rug, Handwoven with Abstract Design, 6' x 7'

Located in Barrington, IL

This captivating vintage Moroccan Boucherouite rug is a bold expression of North African textile artistry at its most inventive. The word Boucherouite — derived from the Arabic for "a piece torn from used clothing" — refers to the tradition of Berber women in rural Morocco who created these extraordinary textiles from repurposed cotton, wool, and synthetic fibers, transforming everyday scraps into works of remarkable visual power. This example showcases an ultra-modern abstract geometric composition rendered in a vivid palette of red, pink, French blue, green, purple, brown, and yellow. The dynamic interplay of color and form echoes the visual language of mid-century modernist abstraction — reminiscent of Josef Albers and Paul Klee — where color relationships and structure create rhythm, balance, and movement. No two Boucherouite rugs are alike; each one is a singular, unrepeatable artistic statement. Versatile and visually striking, this textile works equally well as a tapestry wall hanging or a decorative area rug, instantly becoming the focal point of any interior from mid-century modern to bohemian and eclectic. Dimensions: 5’ 8” x 7’ 2” Date of Manufacture: 3rd Quarter 20th century Place of Origin: Morocco Material: Cotton, Wool Condition: Wear consistent with age and use The Persian Knot Gallery, SKU: 1487 Moroccan Boucherouite, Vintage Moroccan Rugs, Vintage Berber Rugs, Vintage North African Rugs, Mid Century Modern Rugs, Vintage Moroccan Kilim, Vintage Berber Kilim, Boucherouite Rag Rugs, Moroccan Rugs Boucherouite, Moroccan Tribal Rugs, Abstract Mid Century Rugs, Nomadic Rugs, Berber Tribal Rugs, Vintage Boucherouite Rugs, Vintage Rag Rugs, Moroccan Rugs, Moroccan Kilims, Josef Albers Rugs...

Moroccan Moorish Granada Clear Glass Bronze Lantern Pendant, Marrakech 1990s
Moroccan Moorish Granada Clear Glass Bronze Lantern Pendant, Marrakech 1990s

Moroccan Moorish Granada Clear Glass Bronze Lantern Pendant, Marrakech 1990s

Located in Moreno Valley, CA

An exceptionally architectural Moroccan Moorish Granada pendant lantern, handcrafted in Marrakech, Morocco, circa 1980. This smaller-scale version of the classic Granada lantern combines intricate metalwork with multiple tiers of faceted clear glass, creating a jewel-like hanging fixture with remarkable visual depth and presence. The lantern measures 23 inches high by 14 inches in diameter, making it particularly versatile for spaces where a monumental Moroccan chandelier would be overwhelming. Its compact proportions work beautifully in an entry, powder room, dressing room, bedroom, hallway, kitchen, covered loggia or as a series of pendants installed above an island or along a corridor. The elaborate silhouette is constructed through eleven distinct architectural levels, each incorporating angular metal framing and multifaceted clear glass panels. The succession of projecting and recessed tiers gives the lantern its distinctive Granada-inspired profile, recalling the geometric architecture and ornamental vocabulary associated with Moorish and Andalusian design. When illuminated, the numerous clear glass surfaces catch and reflect the light from different angles, giving the fixture a luminous, almost diamond-like quality. Unlike colored Moroccan lanterns, the use of clear glass gives this example a sophisticated neutrality that allows it to integrate easily into Mediterranean, Spanish Colonial, Moorish, Moroccan, Islamic, eclectic and contemporary interiors. The metal framework has a warm dark bronze-tone finish with naturally aged patina, complementing the transparency of the glass and emphasizing the lantern's complex geometry. Each fixture was individually handcrafted by artisans in Marrakech using traditional metalworking and lantern-making techniques, and subtle irregularities are characteristic of handmade Moroccan craftsmanship rather than machine production. A discreet hinged access panel allows the interior bulbs to be changed without dismantling the fixture. The lantern has been restored and rewired for American use with an interior cluster accommodating three candelabra-style bulbs. Hanging chain and ceiling canopy are included, and the chain length can be adjusted or additional chain supplied according to the installation requirements and ceiling height. The fixture is intended for indoor use or a protected covered area and should not be directly exposed to rain or severe weather. Multiple examples are available, making this model particularly attractive for designers requiring a coordinated series of Moroccan lanterns for a hallway, covered arcade, staircase, kitchen, hospitality project or Mediterranean-style residence. Presented in good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and handcrafted construction. There is some natural patina and oxidation to the metal as well as minor scratches and irregularities to the glass.
