Wall Sconce in Quartz with Brass Base, Petra I Triple by Christopher Boots
By Christopher Boots
Located in Warsaw, PL
Contemporary wall sconce in Quartz with brass base - Petra I Triple by Christopher Boots PETRA (from the Greek word ??t?a, meaning stone) celebrates the complexity and subtleties in the material composition in Quartz that PETRA is made from. Evoking strong connections to deep earth geology, PETRA radiates light through subtle tones and snaking veins of Quartz. The magic of PETRA is determined by the natural inherent beauty of Quartz. The PETRA collection is offered in Rose, Clear and Smoky Quartz. Every PETRA is unique as a consequence of variance to the size, shape, translucency and natural details of the stone. The PETRA I is the Sconce iteration of the collection, available in Mono, Twin or Triple. Design: Christopher Boots Materials: Slices of polished clear, rose or smoky quartz, brass Finishing: Aged Brass Lamp: 24V LED WW 2700K dimmable Size: 300 x 120 x 600 mm (11.8 x 4.7 x 23.6 ”) Watts: 12W Quartz: Clear quartz slice Rose quartz slice Smoky quartz slice (Price +30%) Made by hand, in Australia. Crate included in the price. This item cannot be returned or exchanged because of the hand-made and bespoke nature of this product. Christopher Boots Studio: Established 11-11-11, the Christopher Boots studio was founded on material and metaphysical exploration of quartz crystal, birthing a signature aesthetic. Exploring relationships between architecture, symbology and geometry found in nature offers a contemporary interpretation of pattern, structure and symmetry. All works are handmade with love and care, with a diverse team of skilled artisans. Collaborations with glass blowers, coppersmiths, ceramicists, sculptors, and bronze casters, ensures a commitment to quality and underscores an investigative sensibility, giving birth to an aesthetic often unexpected. We design, prototype and build in our Melbourne studios, honouring traditional elements of form, proportion and scale, marrying traditional and cutting edge materials with various techniques, creating future...

Golfwave Chair by Jake Rollins
By Rossana Orlandi
Located in Milan, IT
GolfWeave uses cord and discarded golf balls to explore atomic geometries which are hacked and distorted to make functional objects. These golf balls are arranged as if they were each atoms of carbon. Hexagonal groups of six balls each share one border to make flat surfaces, while pentagons and heptagons are placed strategically to distort and warp, giving rise to the formation of seats, legs, arms and rests. These curves are the same ones we see in isolation in carbon and all of her allotropes. Nanotubes, nanocones, graphene and various fullerenes are hacked, combined and enlarged to a human scale...

From the Art collection of Marian and John Scott. Acquisition date: 1969. Evaluation date records: 1982. About: For the people of the Highlands, shells were considered treasures. As they were items that came from distant shores of Papua New Guinea they were already objects used for trade. The number one source of mother of pearl wealth was and is still is from the Thursday Island, one of the chain of Island that suggests the ancient land bridge across the Torres Straits from Cape York, Australia to New Guinea. About Mark Lissauer: Mark Lissauer spent forty years travelling abroad for months at a time collecting ethnographic artefacts primarily from New Guinea and the islands of the West Pacific, and from Asia and Himalayan countries. Fluent in five languages and having in the course of business travelled to more than forty countries, Mark is well-known to museums and art-collectors around the world for his long career and his interesting and diverse collection of rare ethnographic material. Mark knows the origin and symbolism of each piece. His home has a specialist library and several rooms are filled with tribal carvings, textiles and ethnographica. He acquired his first tribal piece in 1948 during a business trip to Milne Bay, New Guinea, and has since documented the acquisition of some 35,000 items. Several thousands of these have been sold to important private collections and museums worldwide, including the Rockefeller Museum, the British Museum and the Musée National des Arts d’Afrique et d’Océanie, now incorporated into the Louvre Museum.
