Large Stunning Australian Aboriginal Painting by Naata Nungurrayi
By Naata Nungurrayi
Located in Atlanta, GA
A large and stunning contemporary abstract painting by celebrated Australian Aboriginal artist Naata Nungurrayi (1932-2021), stretched and ready for display. A rare masterpiece of the museum quality dating from the peak of the artist's creative output in 2003. The canvas is singular in both the impressive size and tine quality, and it comes with full provenance and step by step photos (100 in total) recording the creation of this significant piece of work. The artist used fine dots as the sole element to compose a complex dreamtime landscape where Women's Ceremony took place in her ancestral time. The place is located at Marrapinti and its surrounds, where many water soakage holes were located. Dots in brilliant shifting and contrasting colors form ceremonial Tingari symbols performed by the women, black crawling tracks that may be associated with a site called Karilywarra (two carpet snakes) and mesmerizing Tali (sandhill) movements surrounding the canvas. The work is of the signature style of the artist, singular and easily recognizable. The fine quality of this work is exemplary. Medium: acrylic on Belgium Linen Cat no. NN200315 Provenance: Yanda Aboriginal Art, NT. The painting comes with a COA letter and an artist biograph issued by Yanda Aboriginal Art and a presentation album with 100 photos that documented the entire process of the creation of this large work of art. The edge of the painting bears name of the artist as well as the stamp of the gallery as shown. Reference and further reading: For a relevant work by the artist, See Plate 88 and Page 220-222 in the book "Past and Present Together: Fifty Years of Papunya Tula Artists" by Meyers and Skerritt. Another similar work is illustrated on plate 13 in "Pintupi" by Hamiltons. Artist's biography: Naata Nungurrayi (1932-2021) is an Australian Aboriginal artist who was born at the site of Kumil, west of the Pollock Hills in Western Australia. She is from the Pintupi group from Kintore, Northern Territory and is one of the senior elders of the Kintore women artist movement. Naata is the sister of George Tjungurrayi and Nancy Nungurrayi, and her son is Kenny Williams Tjampitjinpa...

Mid-Century Australian Modern Teak Sofa & Armchairs by Parker Furniture, 1950s
By Parker Furniture
Located in Warszawa, Mazowieckie
This impressive set of sofa and two armchairs was designed and produced by the Australian company Parker Furniture in 1956. Parker has a legacy of creating some of the finest Mid-Century furniture. These eco-friendly seats are no exception. In an elegant, deep design with perfect proportions, there are simple pillows covered with a characteristic designer material in the color of royal blue, which complements the scultured structure of the frame. The cushions can be raised and the pieces have a spring frame. Elegant, aerodynamic arches are embedded in a low-line solid teak frame that creates an ultra-streamlined 20th century classic. Parker reflects the lightness of form present in the best Mid-Century design and this highly organic living-room set by Parker are a great example of a coveted modernist style. Clean lines and a relaxed profile come together to create a comfortable and stylish pair with a timeless feel. The beauty of these elements can be seen in thoughtful details. The sharp angles visible in the armrests and rear slats add sophistication to this forward-looking design. The set is signed with a label on the wooden frame and an insert on the cushions. Sleek low-back style and sophisticated design are examples of Parker's form from the 1950s. Armchair has 75x69x73cm. The height of seat is 42 cm Parker Furniture began as ‘Dagger and Parker’, a partnership formed between craftsman Alf Dagger, and salesman Jack Parker, after the depression era. From humble beginnings, the company quickly grew, making government tender furniture. Originally, the company made mainly traditional style furniture – reproductions of antique or art deco styles. In the mid 1940s, Tony Parker...

Monumental Oceanic Asmat People Carved Painted Wooden War Shield
Located in Forney, TX
A monumental, rare and important Oceanic Papuan Asmat People tribal carved war shield from the first half of the 20th century, collected from the coast of the headhunting tribe in Papua New Guinea, a Provincial Indonesian island in the mid 20th century. Among the Asmat, war shields are the most powerful symbolic element of a warrior's equipment, and have many layers of meaning. Traditionally, they were functional items used to protect warriors in battle by deflecting an enemy's spears and arrows. The carved and painted images on the surface of the shields were also intended to frighten the enemy and symbolize the power of the ancestors. Ancestral imagery appears on multiple forms of Asmat art...
