Timber Mazer Chair by Tom Fereday
By Tom Fereday
Located in Geneve, CH
Timber Mazer Chair by Tom Fereday
Dimensions: W 35 x D 35 x H 55 cm
Materials: Solid Oak & Walnut.
MAZER COLLECTION:
Mazer represents a series of geometric sculptures, each a celebration of the fundamental beauty and natural variation of stone. Strict brutalist forms of the table and seating collection are juxtaposed by soft organic cutaways carving through the porous stone surfaces, revealing the natural beauty and character of travertine. Named after the medieval term ‘Mazer’ meaning bowl, the collection presents subtle organic forms proportioned for table and seating function designed for permanence. Porous formations of the stone’s structure act as an intentional disruption to the clean geometric forms of the series adding character and intrigue. The limited edition series was crafted from travertine and locally produced in Italy from a combination of machine and traditional hand made processes, each piece exhibiting its own unique characteristics and form with no one piece alike. Mazer is designed by Australian designer Tom Fereday exemplifying Fereday’s desire to honour materiality, combining form and function to produce enduring works.
Tom Fereday develops products based on the principle of honest design, conveying a design process which celebrates the materials and manufacturing processes behind furniture and products, to design from the inside out. By using the materials and environment as a positive design constraint we guide intelligent and thoughtful design outcomes which connect with people through natural materials, tactile finishes and unique design. We strive to create enduring designs which are meaningful to people and their environment.
Born in Australia, Tom Fereday grew up in England studying at the Wimbledon School of Art before moving to Sydney to complete an honours in Industrial Design at the University of Technology Sydney. Working across europe and Australia Tom Fereday went onto found his sole practice in 2012.

Marc Newson Red 'Gello' Table Made for Les 3 Suisses in 1994, Original Box
By Marc Newson
Located in London, GB
The Gello was only produced for a very short time and only a limited quantity few are left in existence.
An extraordinary clever design.
As a mail-order product the table needed to be ultra lightweight and easy to assemble. Newson designed the table in three very simple parts, choosing a high frequency welded PVC plastic sheet for the base, a piece of plastic tubing to hold it together and a vacuum formed polystyrene for the top.
3 Suisses...

Odyssey Modern Organic Ancient Wood Live Edge Slab Table, Polished Nickel Base
By Tréology
Located in Papanui, Christchurch
Tréology is about connecting people to nature through functional art. Odyssey was created after a road trip to New Zealand's wild West Coast to observe nature’s craft work. Looking deep into nature, we saw the layered rock formations along the sea coast and rivers of New Zealand to achieve a functional table base. The design progression sought to bring layering metaphors into the piece, but a solid mass would be visually too heavy. The solution was to add volume through the introduction of negative space and deliver an abstract representation of the rocks and boulders we observed. Odyssey introduces the interplay with both positive and negative space so the perspective alters when walking around the piece.
The Odyssey Live Edge Slab Table...
