This 'Djinn' chaise longue by Olivier Mourgue for Airborne International is stunning. It was produced in France between 1964 and 1965. This chaise longue is well known for its appearance in "2001: A Space Odyssey" by Stanley Kubrick and is part of Center de Pompidou and the New York's MoMA collection. This epic piece of modernism from the Mid-20th Century is as beautiful as it is comfortable and will surely become a favourite piece of furniture in your living room. Condition: Excellent,Reupholstered, This Djinn chaise longue has new stripes, foam and newly upholstered in fluffy wool with blend of mohair and alpaca which is produced by one of the most luxurious fabric manufacturers in the world, Pierre Frey. About the Designer: Olivier Mourgue (French, born 1939) is a French artist and industrial designer. Best known for his design of the Djinn line of furniture, Mourgue’s aesthetic is characterized by brightly colored jersey fabric stretched over structural steel frames that are filled with polyether foam, creating a unified, futuristic, alien-like modular form. Born in Paris, France in 1939, he began his career with an innovative design for a chaise lounge in 1964, after which he expanded his original furniture line to include loveseats, stools, and anthropomorphic chairs. Iconic designed rocking chair model PS16 designed by Franco Albini and manufactured by Poggi, Italy 1959. This is a beautiful, comfortable and important piece of mid 20th century modern design designed by one of the biggest designers Italy had in the mid of the 20th century. This super shaped rocking chair has a solid bent walnut structure, with canvas seating area which supports the seating cushion which we reupholstered in cream white alpaca upholstery. The canvas seating part is beautifully attached to the frame with a rope which is almost sculpturally attached to the structure. The structure of the chair is in fully original condition and has a beautiful patina to the wood and canvas where its authenticity is clearly visible. We choose not to fuly restore the piece as we think this brings character to the piece but refinishing can always be done upon request.
