Oversized Vintage Rabat Moroccan Rug, Hotel Lobby Size Carpet
Located in Dallas, TX
77201 Oversized Vintage Moroccan Rug, 13'10 x 18'07.
Representing an exclusive category of Moroccan carpets and a sign of wealth, this palatial Rabat Moroccan rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The detailed tribal design and vibrant colorway woven into this piece work together to. Clevery composed and colorfully curated, this oversized vintage Moroccan rug features six superimposed stepped diamond-shaped medallions in bright lime, sunflower yellow and tomato red spread across a creamy-biege field. A variety of ambiguous tribal symbols decorate the field between the medallions, including combs and burdocks. Combs and darts grace the corner spandrels, while stepped hexagons with diamond centers line the edges. The attractive border echoes the graphic designs of the central area and features fetter motifs in alternating colors separated by thin bars with diamond end-caps. Fetters traditionally symbolize family union, while combs, diamonds, and burdocks are seen to protect against evil. Not exactly subtle but enough to make a statement, this colorful Moroccan rug is charming and fun.
Unlike most other Moroccan rugs, Rabat city rugs exhibit Anatolian designs and influence, though it is unclear how these designs came to Morocco many centuries ago. According to Indianapolis Museum of Arts, The Fabric of Moroccan Life, the women weavers of Rabat tell a legend that one day 'a stork dropped into the courtyard of a house a piece of rug- whose colors and design were hitherto unknown in the land- the women weavers of the house saw it as a gift from heaven, a talisman, and a good omen, and so were inspired by it. The people of Rabat consider wool to be as precious as gold and a variety of rituals surround the making of their rugs. They are known to be able to create bright and saturated polychromatic color schemes with a narrow palette.
Perfect for a large entertaining space, hotel lobby, lounge area, drawing room, country club, academic library, golf locker room, trophy room, private Chambers, great room, wine cellar, executive suite, conservatory, state room, royal suite, billiards room, owners retreat, dining room, living room, or formal sitting room. Rustic yet refined, this oversized Moroccan rug would complement mountain living for luxury ski chalets, secluded hunting lodges and rustic ranches found in Montana, Colorado, Lake Tahoe, Wyoming, or the Adirondacks.
Rendered in variegated shades of beige, red, blue, green, amethyst, and yellow with other accent colors.
Tag on the back reads: Morocco, Rabat.

Eliko Rugs by David Ariel Antique Persian Bakhtiari Rug with Warm TOnes
Located in New York, NY
Bakhtiari rugs, also known as Bakhtiar rugs or Bakhtiari carpets, are a type of Persian rug that originated in the Bakhtiari tribe's region in southwestern Iran. The Bakhtiari people are one of the largest Iranian tribal groups and are renowned for their weaving traditions .Bakhtiari rugs are handwoven using a symmetrical knotting technique, known as the Persian knot or Senneh knot, on a foundation of cotton or wool. These rugs typically feature a thick, durable pile made of high-quality wool, which contributes to their longevity and durability. One distinctive characteristic of Bakhtiari rugs is their "garden" or "paradise" design. These rugs are divided into different compartments or panels, each featuring a unique pattern. These panels are often surrounded by a border that frames the overall design.
Bakhtiari rugs are highly regarded for their craftsmanship and artistic value. They are prized by collectors and rug enthusiasts worldwide for their beauty, quality, and cultural significance. Their intricate patterns and vibrant colors make them a popular choice for interior decoration, adding warmth and elegance to any space.
