Swedish Modern, Multifunctional Shelves in Solid Pine, Late 19th Century
Located in Odense, DK
In the year 1877, the Swedish Royal library moved into a newly constructed building in Humlegården, Stockholm. The Architect was Gustaf Dahl.
On the top 3 floors of the original building, in the book storage areas, these wooden shelves were placed on iron holders built into the house walls.
During the 1990s the building was renovated and they were supposed to be thrown away, and if it hadn´t been for a carpenter working with the renovations, they would surely be gone for now.
Instead they are now a preserved piece of history.

What a door!
Manufactured by Mather & Platt Ltd of Manchester, England.
The doors stands at over 7ft high and nearly 5ft wide, the steel patchwork is all intact and the door is finished in its original red paint with a wonderful aged patina. The original cast iron hinges are bolted through the door and have the original hinge pins. The latch mechanism is also complete and in working order.
