Located in North Hollywood, CA
Mughal Rajasthani Black Marble Inlay Pietra Dura Table Top India. This is an exceptional handcrafted Mughal Rajasthani black marble Pietra Dura inlay table top, featuring the same intricate craftsmanship seen in the Taj Mahal. The table showcases the traditional Indian art of Parchin Kari (Pietra Dura), where semi-precious stones like lapis lazuli, cornelian, and agate are meticulously inlaid into a marble surface, creating stunning floral and geometric patterns. Handcrafted Mughal Rajasthani Black Marble Pietra Dura Table Top, India. This stunning table top features intricate Mughal-style Pietra Dura inlay work, showcasing the artistry found in the Taj Mahal. Skilled artisans meticulously inlay semi-precious stones like lapis lazuli, carnelian, malachite, and agate into black marble, creating beautiful floral and geometric patterns. This vintage, octagonal marble table top from Rajasthan, India, blends traditional craftsmanship with vibrant colors, making it an exquisite decorative piece. The combination of lapis lazuli, jade, turquoise, jasper, and carnelian adds a rich depth to the design. This piece can also be used as a tray or accent table, making it a versatile addition to any space. This is a spectacular very fine Pietra Dura inlay black marble in an octagonal shape with wonderful colors and quality craftsmanship. This beautiful handcrafted marble inlay table...

Indian Mughal Inspired Brass Wall Hanging, 20th Century
Located in Islamabad, PK
Visualize a captivating brass wall hanging from the 20th century, a masterpiece that intricately captures the essence of Mughal art and history. This large, hammered brass creation serves as both a work of art and a historical narrative, transporting observers to the opulent world of Mughal India. The brass wall hanging is generously sized, with a surface that gleams in the warm, golden hues characteristic of polished brass. Its weighty presence adds a sense of grandeur to any space, and the hammered texture across the entire piece adds depth and dimension to the artwork. Upon closer inspection, the surface of the brass wall hanging reveals a finely detailed Mughal scene. The artisan has skillfully hammered the brass to create a rich tapestry of imagery, showcasing the elegance and sophistication of Mughal life. The scene might include depictions of Mughal emperors and empresses, courtiers engaged in conversation, musicians playing traditional instruments, and gracefully adorned elephants parading through lush gardens. The meticulous craftsmanship extends to the fine details of clothing, jewelry, and architectural elements. The hammered technique imparts a textured quality to the figures and structures, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow that adds to the visual richness of the piece. The central focus of the brass wall hanging might be a magnificent Mughal palace or a serene garden, both rendered with precision and artistic flair. The scene is framed by intricate borders featuring geometric patterns and floral motifs, showcasing the artisan's dedication to both historical accuracy and aesthetic beauty. As a whole, this brass wall hanging stands...

Mughal Indian Miniature
Located in New York, NY
This Mughal miniature was painted at one of the princely courts of India. It depicts a raven-haired princess in a gold-trimmed saffron-colored silk sari. Under a glowering evening sky she dawdles on a white marble terrace, with a pet fawn on a leash, before a landscape dotted with buildings nestled amongst trees beyond a river. Her hair, falling loosely about her shoulders, rather than carefully dressed on her head, indicates that she is a maiden. The overall mood is one of expectancy. Perhaps walking a pet and catching an evening breeze is a pretext to escape palace scrutiny for a lovers’ assignation. In Mughal India tender sentiments were a bridge to the erotic – and if this seems contradictory, so too is the balance of realism and caricature, and naturalism with the schematic. Both are hallmarks of miniatures painted in this place and time. The earliest Mughal Indian miniatures date to the 16th century. They were inspired by those painted at the refined Moslem courts of the neighboring Persian empire. They incorporated figures in spite of the Moslem faith’s proscription against depicting the human form. Such was the nature of sophisticated courtly life everywhere that beauty and pleasure trumped systems of morality. This was no less the case at the provincial Indian courts, where our miniature, marked by a charming pictorial naiveté, was most likely painted. Yet the artist was undeniably accomplished. His command of perspective, introduced by Jesuit missionaries in the 17th century, is seen in the landscape, which rolls back to a distant horizon, contrary to the flat two-dimensional ones following Indian-painting traditions. And if Mughal artists were influenced by Western art, the compliment was returned by Rembrandt and Sir Joshua Reynolds, among others, who collected Indian miniatures (as did, perhaps, Giovanni Bellini who painted in Mughal style the famous miniature of a Persian man...
