An exquisite and rare large scale circa 1840 zoological silkwork embroidery picture of native Indian reptiles and amphibians feeding on butterflies in native flora and fungi, depicting a striking Russell's viper, a turtle, a frog, and a young monitor lizard worked by an English hand in India retaining original parcel gilt carved solid ebony frame with original glass. Sight: 25.63" x 19.5". A truly exceptional, museum calibre piece.
