The remarkable feature here is their survival as a closely matched pair: two monumental antique diamonds approaching five carats each, with harmonious scale, outline and visual presence, preserved together in a single jewel. That combination is considerably more unusual than the existence of either stone individually. Exceptional Face-Up Presence One of the most striking qualities of the principal diamonds is their visual scale relative to their stated weights. Despite weighing approximately five carats each, both stones possess a remarkably broad and commanding face-up presence. On the ear, they appear substantially larger than their carat weights would suggest, creating the visual impact of diamonds considerably greater in weight. It is a jewel of a scale and quality consistent with the exceptional clientele served by the finest European jewellery houses of the period.
