By Sunil Das

Located in Kolkata, West Bengal

Sunil Das - Untitled - 20.75 x 17.5 inches (unframed size) Oil on Canvas , 1997 ( ALL IN DOOR DELIVERED ROLLED ) The exceptions are the faces such as the profiles of bearded men in which the content is a mere excuse for the lines to create a pattern of untrammeled playfulness. " There are painters who transform the Sun to a yellow spot, but there are others who, with the help of their art and intelligence, transform a yellow spot into Sun" - Pablo Picasso . Subrata Paul - Power Bronze, H 21 x W 34 x D 10 inches About : Subrata Paul ( b 1972) is one of the empanelled sculptors of Abundant Art Gallery. Subrata Paul’s favoured materials are bronze embellished with wood. His signature fusion of the two different materials with his stitching style lends an unique texture to his sculptures. Our collection, includes some of his remarkable creations including “Fish”, “Goat” and “Bull”.Paul’s ‘Fish’ represents contrasting characteristics. The Buddha like drooping eyes of the ‘Fish’ is contrasted paradoxically against the frenzied fins, reminding us of Medusa’s dishevelled hair. Calmness and restlessness in one form, the ‘Fish’ resembles the life force. It is a metaphor for the inner human strength to swim against the tide of adversities. His ‘The King’ represents an imperial image. The statute is looking towards heaven, as if seeking some inspiration to perform his royal duties. His crown is like a crown of thorns. It is not a pleasant task but it has to be performed. His attire declares he has to modify his own life into the straightjacket of his royal duties. Another creation of his, ‘Bull’ recalls the interpretation of a bison of the Altamira cave paintings. Paul’s ‘Meditation’ series defines peace in different perspectives through various aspects of Buddha figures. Inspired by sculptors such as Sunil Kumar Das...

Royal Academy Series-7, Conte on Paper, Modern Artist Atul Bose "In Stock"

Located in Kolkata, West Bengal

Atul Bose - Royal Academy Series-6 Pencil on Paper, 15 x 11.2 inches (Unframed Size) 1924-26 (Delivered Unframed in as is condition) Atul Bose was a master artist whose creative journey spanned several decades and left an indelible mark on the Indian art scene. He was born in 1898 in a small village in Bengal and showed an early aptitude for art. Despite facing financial difficulties, he pursued his passion and enrolled in the Government School of Art in Calcutta. Bose's early works were influenced by the Bengal School of Art, which was a movement that sought to revive traditional Indian art forms. However, over time, Bose developed his own unique style that blended elements of Indian art with European modernism. He was particularly influenced by the works of artists like Paul Cezanne and Georges Braque. Bose spent two years, 1924-6, at the Royal Academy. He was heavily influenced there by the post-impressionist Walter Sickert. He refused an invitation to help decorate the pavilion at the British Empire Exhibition in 1924 with Mukul Dey...

Abstract Landscape India Edition 3/5 Linocut Print Nature Aubergine Green

By Mukesh Sharma

Located in Norfolk, GB

There is a natural and raw understanding in Mukesh Sharma’s prints that both depict, and are influenced by, the Rajastani communities of his home town in rural India. In these Limited Edition fine-art prints, made over a period of twenty years, we are offered the colours of India’s ancient land, the textures, light and the patterns that are everywhere. In the patterns of the arable fields to the jali's (carved screens) in the architecture. This work is however not romantic nor nostalgic but shows a deeper rooted need to offer a visual heritage of place, of where the artist is from and the journey that he is taking. The results are both compelling and honest. Mukesh Sharma, Frenzy M1, Lino-cut chin- coll’e on German Ivory paper Edition: 3 of 5, 2005 Image size: 45 x 33 cm / Sheet size: 79 x 55 cm Unframed 'In this work in particular I feel that a true work of art is the creation of an experience from the interaction between the human self and the outside world' Mukesh Sharma's work: It is often in childhood that paths are set for what we will become. Mukesh Sharma hails from a rural, agricultural village in Rajasthan, India. His Father is a craftsman who fixed and mended farm machinery and understood the working parts in the processes. Sharma followed in his Father’s footsteps, as is often the case in Indian families, but his was not the machines of the fields but the presses of the printing studio. Like his Father, Mukesh Sharma is fascinated with understanding how things work and how he can manipulate the metal in his hands. It is not surprising then that his medium of choice is printing. One of the most physically challenging of all the practices, it can often be physically challenging as well as technical and detailed. In his youth, Sharma would draw with stones on walls and floors. He was lucky his family encouraged this and he is grateful for his early art-training at the Jaipur School of Art but it was at the Baroda Art Department that he was introduced to the great printing traditions of Jyoti Bhatt...
