A very rare late 19th Century Irish well figured mahogany two seater settee in the manner of 'Butlers of Dublin'. This stunning piece is of exceptional quality, finely hand carved with beautifully rich patination, grain and is upholstered in a gorgeous cream material. The serpentine shaped top rail is raised over a shaped padded back flanked with out-scrolled pierced arms with fabulous eagle-head terminals exquisitely carved in high relief above a padded drop in seat. The simple waved apron is supported on a pair of out-splayed legs to the rear and a set of three elegantly tapering cabriole legs to the fore, each with and centred with a striking arrangement of a cabochon flanked with richly scrolling acanthus leaves, foliate and bellhusks, terminating on finely carved ball and claw foot...
