Nude with Lace, Pastel Study Painting by Pio Santini
Located in Atlanta, GA
This charming pastel painting on paper was designed by Pio Santini (1908-1986) and named nude with lace. The signature, Santini, can be found in the bottom left corner of the artwork.
The artwork depicts a lovely romantic composition with a nude young lady kneeling and holding a piece of white lace. The artist used a Flamboyant magenta-red drape background.
The painting remains in its original frame, which features delicately carved wood, a gesso finish, an off-white wood liner, and glass protection.
The piece is in good condition but has a dark stain and some small chips on the edges of the original wood frame.
Measurements:
With frame: 22.75 in wide (58 cm) x 26 in high (66 cm)
Opening view: 14.50 in wide (36.5 cm) x 17.75 in (45 cm).
Artist Biography: Pio Santini (1908-1986)
Pio Santini was born on April 17, 1908, close to Rome, in Tivoli, Italy.
He had a keen and early taste in art, starting with painting and drawing. From his childhood drawings, as early as 5 or 6 years old, he was gifted and had a technique above the average.
As early as 1933, Pio Santini moved to Paris, in the Montparnasse district, also known as The Artists Area, where he settled in his first Parisian studio. He is recognized as a member of the Academy of Paris, a significant art movement in the first half of the 20th century, alongside Amedeo Modigliani and other Italian artists.
While attending the classes of the Estienne School for further training in plastic art, Pio Santini started to attract attention in various Parisian Salons (particularly the Winter Salon, the Independents Salon, and the French Artists Salon.) According to the newspapers of his time, he gained a position in the Parisian painting community.
The Second World War, which pitted his country of birth against his adopted nation, created conflicting emotions in him. During this time, the concept of a united and reconciled Europe took root in his mind.
In a way, he played a part in resuming cultural exchanges between France and Italy by founding the association The Romans in Paris after the war and especially by creating and animating the Villa D’Este's Prize for about ten years. This award gives a month's stay at the Villa in Tivoli to a French writer or artist each year.
Later, in the same way, the Montparnasse Prize would reward Italian artists in Paris.
He worked as an art illustrator for editions and press while focusing on painting, and he left us rich but underappreciated work from this period. In the early 1960s, Pio Santini decided, imperiously and bravely, to live on his painting. A member of the Society of Independent Artists since 1934, he then actively participated in numerous collective exhibitions in France and abroad.
He regularly exhibited in Parisian Salons, most of which he was a member: the Independents Salon, the Autumn Salon, the Winter Salon, the National Salon of the Fine Arts, and the Comparison Salon.
He frequently received awards for participating in the esteemed Salon des Artistes Français. Winning the Ernest Marché Prize in 1974, a gold medal in 1971, and The Great Price of the Salon in 1970 and 1974.
Pio Santini lived his last years in his house in Garches, near Paris.
He worked there until the last moment and died of illness at the age of 78.
Keeping himself a part of the avant-garde of contemporary art, Pio Santini developed a personal work of formal coherence very steadily. He is a two-time artist, one of the beginnings of his career in the Thirties and the other one, his rebirth, the Sixties, when the artist could again devote himself to painting.
Santini's artistic development was severely impacted by the Second World War. However, things had begun under the best circumstances for the young painter, whose 1928 self-portrait is a declaration of his determination to dedicate himself to painting.
His tastes were served well by the resurgence of figurative and sensual...

1960's Rolex Vintage Mens Ultra Thin Pre-Cellini Handwound Dress Watch

1960's ROLEX Vintage Mens Ultra Thin Pre-Cellini Handwound Dress Watch - 14K Gold
Very Fine Vintage Rolex - Ultra Thin Design - Box, Cloth & Booklet - 1 Year Warranty
In vintage times, in the midst of their high output of utilitarian sports watches, Rolex also made much more elegant dress watches. These fine wristwatches often combine a superior mechanism with beautiful aesthetics.
The ultra-thin gentleman's vintage Rolex made for the U.S. market showcased in today's offering is a classic example of this phenomenon. It features timeless, elegant styling and a superbly executed handwound movement.
Epitomizing the essence of 'the classic watch' remembered today, it features a manually wound movement, round gold case, understated dial, slender hands, and simple baton markers. As one prominent watch writer aptly stated about a similar watch, "The extra-slim watch, whose style embraces only the strict essentials, has continued to seduce for its elegance and discretion."
Powering the watch is Rolex very fine "ultra slim" cailber 1600 movement adjusted to two positions, a higher-grade engine than often found in U.S. market Rolex watches.
The case is a mens midsize, best suited for something who doesn't have a large wrist - its is the size of similarly styled AP's from the era.
It has all of its original parts. Its case presents nicely on the wrist. The lugs appear to bow just slightly, and it appears that an inscription was previously polished off of the case back leaving some rippling there.
Its silver dial, which some would say is original, we think was restored decades ago in vintage times and is still very clean.
One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker (for many years now Rolex has not "certified" watchmakers, they only "train" them), has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Rolex parts, installing a new Rolex mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).
It is running strong and true, keeping time essentially on par with a new Rolex in our testing position.
For the finishing touch, we have installed a brand new genuine crocodile strap and aftermarket Rolex...

1991 TUDOR (Rolex) PRINCE OYSTERDATE Vintage Mens Ref. 74000 Watch - Stainless Steel
Rolex Case, Crown & Bracelet - Gorgeous Original Condition - 1 Year Warranty
More and more collectors are becoming acquainted with watches from Rolex's Tudor brand, creations which have become increasingly more collectible. Watches in the Tudor line, apart from the fact that they utilize ebauche movements, are similar to those of Rolex in design and construction.
When Rolex launched the Tudor brand in 1945, they strongly intended that the public perception of its quality had to equal that of Rolex. To achieve this lofty aim, until the mid-1990's, Tudor watches featured Rolex cases and crowns, and, until 1971, Rolex bracelets.
An advertisement in Britain's Horological Journal in vintage times stated that Tudor's were, "Manufactured under strict Rolex supervision and bear the Rolex label of guarantee."
The Prince Oysterdate comes across with a feeling of familiarity to many watch collectors because of its connection to Rolex. While those connections have faded a bit in recent years, this 74000 was birthed at a time when the two brands were bonded together a lot more closely than they are today.
Patterned after the Rolex Oysterdate, one of the company's staple models, it is thinner and of course a bit more affordable than its Rolex sibling. However, it has two more desirable features than a Rolex Oysterdate - this Prince Oysterdate has a movement that is automatic, unlike the Rolex, and it has semi quick-setting, also something that Rolex Oysterdate's didn't have.
This 74000, which plays sort of a transitional role in what was Tudor's growing independence from Rolex, is indicative of the period when the two giant watch brands functioned as best friends.
Today's auction showcases this Connoisseur of Time Certified Pre-Owned Tudor Prince Oysterdate in gorgeous original condition.
The watch itself has all of its original parts.
Its original Rolex Oyster case presents in gorgeous mint condition with only very slight signs of previous polishing. Its case presents nearly like new.
Its untouched original dial is mint with beautifully toned luminous. The original luminous in its hands perfectly matches the pips.
As I mentioned, until 1971 Rolex fitted Tudor watches with true Rolex bracelets - the exact same ones that came with their Rolex branded watches. Though this watch would have come with a Tudor bracelet, it has previously been upgraded to a full Rolex bracelet made in 1971, the last year that a Rolex bracelet would have been correct to fit on a Tudor watch.
A Master Watchmaker has freshly overhauled the watch, and it has also been examined by our Master Watchmaker who worked for an authorized Rolex dealership and was given training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center.
It is running exceptionally strong and true, keeping time better than many new Tudors and Rolexes in our testing recording position.
For the finishing touch, we have meticulously detailed it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
Your watch is important to us, and we will take care of it for its lifetime. We provide the best after sale care in the business with an extremely experienced team of four Master Watchmakers all of whom each have over thirty-five years of experience and a large number of parts. As mentioned one used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealership.

Pair of English Country House Brass Wall Lanterns with Glass Doors, circa 1900
Located in Atlanta, GA
A charming pair of English wall lanterns, crafted around 1900, with a timeless presence that fits seamlessly into both classic and transitional interiors. Each lantern is made from brass with a dark patinated finish that evokes the subtle grandeur of the English Country House tradition. The design features a pitched roof, a turned finial, and a glass-fronted door that opens to reveal a single light. The cream-toned interior reflects the light beautifully while maintaining a soft, diffused glow.
Recently rewired for use in the United States, the fixtures are ready for immediate installation. The scale is modest and well-suited for flanking a fireplace, lighting a hallway, or framing a doorway—indoors or out, provided they are placed in a covered area. Their restrained form and historic finish lend authenticity and warmth to both traditional and contemporary spaces.
A handsome and practical pair for those drawn to the understated elegance of antique English lighting.
