Marvelous vintage Modern Shaver Howard dining set slatted steel tulip pedestal base table with a round glass top and four slatted steel frame chairs with greige tweed seat cushions. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, there are small scratches on the top surface and a chigger bite and a tiny chip in the edge of the glass top. The seats have been professionally cleaned; however, a few stubborn stains remain, and they will eventually need to be reupholstered. The set is priced accordingly. This is a FABULOUS dining or dinette set by Shaver Howard including a wonderful table composed of a stunning slatted steel tulip style pedestal base with a clearcoat and it’s topped with a marvelous 48” round 3/8” thick glass top. It also includes four incredible clear coated steel framed dining chairs with straight front and splayed back legs which also create the outer edge of the slatted backs, and they are wearing a greige (beige/gray) textured tweed fabric that will eventually need reupholstered. We never think of that as a negative aspect because we LOVE new fabrics… and think of the ENDLESS and incredible possibilities! Upon our extensive research we were able to confirm that this set was created prior to 1980 when Shaver Howard became Johnston Casuals. So, sometime in the “Groovy 70’s!” Ahhhhh, the “Decade of Disco!” No wonder this set is so FAB! Obviously, it will be awesome in your dining area, but it could be a wonderful addition to a game room for the perfect spot to sit and play a game of cards or assemble a fun jigsaw puzzle. Beautiful set of four modern or Hollywood Regency double tube curved arm brass plate cantilever chairs with blush chenille upholstery and matching table with rounded rectangular or “stadium” shaped smoked glass top and double tube brass plated base with levelers on the feet. The double tube frames are metal with chrome plate and brass plate over the top. They are in good overall condition. However, if you look closely there are scratches in the plating on all pieces and the brass plate has gotten a bit thin in several places giving them an over-all “gliver” color. The glass does have a small edge chip and there are some edge scratches as you can see in the photos. Two of the glass bumpers have been replaced. Reminder, these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use. We call that patina. Most will want to recover due to a couple small repairs even though we love the blush-colored original upholstery. Set is priced accordingly. Please see photos, Circa 1970’s. Fabulous mod style MCM (mid-century modern) 1967 dining or game table from the New Design Idiom line by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin comprised of red vinyl base and white laminate top table, and 2 slipper chairs by Founders Furniture. Chairs have been reupholstered in a neoprene bonded sponge waterproof wet suit fabric by Big Z Fabric. Wonderful vintage condition. The laminate top has been cleaned and polished but two small rust spots remain. The vinyl is in beautiful shape and the chairs have been reupholstered. Please see photos. We try to show flaws. One of the most remarkable partnerships in the mid-century modern to modern design world was the phenomenal furniture making duo of Milo Baughman and Thayer Coggin. Milo Baughman, a 20th Century genius of design, was born in Western Kansas in 1923 but was moved a year later by his family to Long Beach, California. He created Milo Baughman Design Inc. in 1947 and began designing interiors and furniture. Thayer Coggin was born in 1922 in Denton, North Carolina. Twelve years later his family moved 25 miles north to High Point where he grew up surrounded by furniture manufacturing. Thayer’s first love was furniture and Milo’s was design. So, together in 1953, after the two met, history was made in American furniture making by one of the greatest collaborations in the industry. During his career and before his death in 2003, Milo did design for several other companies as well as his own, but it is his collaboration with Thayer Coggin that is most impressive and sought-after today. Thayer Coggin, Inc. is still in business today even after its namesake’s death and is still offering classic selections from the late Baughman’s designs. Founders Furniture began as an independent company in 1947. The president was Edward Thrower. They merged with Thomasville Furniture in 1965 and were sold after to the Armstrong Group. Handsome game table or dining table set including a round glass top rattan base table and four (4) swivel rolling rattan chairs with oatmeal colored upholstered removable seat and back cushions. They are in wonderful vintage condition. The cushions have been professionally cleaned and are ready to use. The rattan has normal signs of age appropriate use apart from the base of one of the chairs which we have restored because of structural needs and refinished. Handsome Mid-Century Modern round patio dining table and 4 folding sling chairs by Samsonite. They are in fabulous vintage condition with no outstanding flaws we have detected. Please see photos, circa 1960s-1970s. We are in love with this Mid-Century Modern patio dining set by Samsonite here at the shop! You will love it too. The table is comprised of a round white fiberglass tabletop with a faux slate look which is supported by a white enameled steel tube base. The top even has a plugged hole to receive an umbrella. The shape of the base is rather boomerang-like and provides a great space for the four chairs. The unique armless folding chairs have a brown mesh sling on white enameled steel tube frames. They are reminiscent of Greta Grossman’s folding chairs from the 1940s. We found these in an enclosed hot tub room of a marvelous Mid-Century Modern home. We believe they have never been outside, although they are made to be in the weather. Pssst…..we are listing a matching tea/bar cart too. Samsonite, best known for their luggage, was founded in Denver in 1910 by Jesse Shwayder. Jesse was born and raised in the late 19th century American West but found himself in his 20’s in New York selling luggage for the Seward Trunk and Bag Company. However, he had a dream. A dream of going home along with a dream of owning his own company. He did just that. That company was first named Shwayder Trunk Manufacturing Company. However, its name was changed in 1965 to Samsonite honoring its best-selling product. Jesse Shwayder named the line as such for its incredible strength which he likened to the Biblical character, Samson. The first 60-70 plus years Samsonite was operated by the Shwayder family and went through many expansions and changes. One of those expansions was into the furniture market. But by the 1970s they were bought out by the Beatrice umbrella. Again, going though many expansions and changes and……cutbacks too and changing hands many times. After all those years, the luggage portion of Samsonite is back in Denver operating from their original location. And, the furniture portion is operating as it did from its beginning in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Samsonite Corporation and Samsonite Furniture are now separate companies. This vintage Samsonite...

Handsome set of four tulip style white fiberglass swivel armchairs with black vinyl seat cushions and round dining table set by Arthur Umanoff for Contemporary Shells. These are era appropriate vintage chairs and table done in the style of Eero Saarinen for Knoll and subsequently Burke. They are in wonderful vintage condition. The fiberglass is in fabulous condition as is the black vinyl, Naugahyde, or faux leather seat cushions. The bases have been given a new coat of paint and the tabletop polished with laminate polish.
