"I Can Experience Joy and Happiness" Abstract Butterfly Painting Acrylic Canvas
By Ash Almonte
Located in New York, NY
The Butterfly series for Ash began as a sentiment to her late Father. Butterflies began to appear in unexplainable ways after his passing, the artist later discovered that Butterflies represent spiritual rebirth, transformation, change, hope, and life - she goes on to say: "The butterfly series draws inspiration from Rivera's quote 'Butterflies can't see their wings. They can't see how truly beautiful they are, but everyone else can.'" After coming to the fruition that Butterflies pose as not only a symbol for beauty and rebirth, Almonte felt a feeling of deep comfort. Her passion for sharing this message of hope and renewal through her colorfully diverse canvases is achieved with resilience leaving her audience glimmering much like the inner voice and the spark of Joie de vivre that fuels her purpose in life to create. This piece is painted on thick gallery wrap canvas and is signed lower right and on verso, it comes with hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed. Art measures 48 x 48 inches Inspired by vibrance and an optimistic outlook on life, Ash Almonte is recognized for her distinct abstract expressionistic style. She is best known for her series of Chandeliers, Butterflies, and Fashion from the Seventh Avenue Design District. Almonte's award-winning works can be found in private and permanent collections around the world. She is motivated by change, compassion for others, and miraculous phenomena that can impact others for good. Her flair and admiration for fashion and art have been a staple of her life since childhood. As a young girl, she would experiment using anything she could find to make art; from tearing apart bushel baskets at her father’s fruit stand, to tearing out old magazine clippings from her mother's magazine collection; anything and everything around her could potentially be used to create. She would continue to seek out opportunities throughout her young adult years, as her love for fashion grew, allowing her to collaborate with celebrity stylists creating looks for top billboard artists, as well as apparel worn at New York Fashion Week for designers Sherri Hill...

Love Wins - Rainbow glass pill sculpture
By Edie Nadelhaft
Located in East Quogue, NY
Limited edition rainbow colored glass pill sculpture. Edition of 9. Signed and numbered on the back by the artist. The piece is equipped with a D-ring on the back for easy hanging. "Love Wins" is part of Edie Nadelhaft's "Better Living Thru Chemistry: Luv is the Drug" sculpture series consisting of candy-colored glass and mixed media capsule-shaped objects. Each pill is festooned with text messages, social media iconography and the language of pop psychology. Inspired in equal parts by the ubiquitous presence of social media in contemporary culture and the simultaneous rise of direct - to - consumer pharmaceutical marketing. The work pokes fun at the alternately amusing and depressing correlations between the two phenomena as both are enlisted to oversimplify the human condition and expedite contentment through a familiar cocktail of instant gratification and seductive packaging. Edie Nadelhaft is a New York-based painter and mixed media artist whose work has been widely exhibited at museums, art fairs and galleries. She studied painting and art history at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and S.U.N.Y. Purchase. She received her BFA with Honors from The Massachusetts College of Art & Design. Sam Gilliam Buoy Landscape IV, 1982 Color relief print, etching, screenprint, drypoint, aquatint and roulette all from deeply etched copper plates, on handmade wove paper 31 1/2 × 24 inches Hand signed and numbered 3/25 in graphite pencil Hand-signed by artist, Signed by artist, numbered, and dated in pencil and blind-stamped by printer-publisher on lower right, titled in pencil on lower left, recto Unframed with elegant deckled edges Rare vintage intaglio and relief, all from deeply etched copper plates. Other works from this series are in the permanent collections of major museums & institutions like the Smithsonian, so they are quite scarce on the open market. Steven M. Andersen (Printer) Philip Barber (Printer) Hang Nguyen (Printer) Stephanie Nowack (Printer) Michael Reid (Printer) Daniel Rounds (Printer) Vermillion Editions Limited (Publisher) Sam Gilliam Biography: Sam Gilliam was one of the great innovators in postwar American painting. He emerged from the Washington, D.C. scene in the mid 1960s with works that elaborated upon and disrupted the ethos of Color School painting. A series of formal breakthroughs would soon result in his canonical Drape paintings, which expanded upon the tenets of Abstract Expressionism in entirely new ways. Suspending stretcherless lengths of painted canvas from the walls or ceilings of exhibition spaces, Gilliam transformed his medium and the contexts in which it was viewed. As an artist in the nation’s capital at the height of the Civil Rights Movement, this was not merely an aesthetic proposition; it was a way of defining art’s role in a society undergoing dramatic change. Gilliam pursued a pioneering course in which experimentation was the only constant. Inspired by the improvisatory ethos of jazz, his lyrical abstractions took on an increasing variety of forms, moods, and materials. In addition to a traveling retrospective organized by the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. in 2005, Sam Gilliam was the subject of solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, New York (1971); The Studio Museum in Harlem, New York (1982); Whitney Museum of American Art, Philip Morris Branch, New York (1993); J.B. Speed Memorial Museum, Louisville, Kentucky (1996); Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C. (2011); and Kunstmuseum Basel, Switzerland (2018), among many other institutions. A semi-permanent installation of Gilliam’s paintings opened at Dia:Beacon in August 2019. His work is included in over fifty public collections, including those of the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris; Tate Modern, London; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; and the Art Institute of Chicago. Sam Gilliam, Green April, 1969, acrylic on canvas, 98 x 271 x 3 7/8 inches (248.9 x 688.3 x 9.8 cm), Collection of Kunstmuseum Basel, Basel, Switzerland, Courtesy of David Kordansky Gallery, Los Angeles, photography by Lee Thompson...

Basquiat at Tony Shafrazi gallery 1996 (Basquiat Dust Heads announcement)
By Jean-Michel Basquiat
Located in NEW YORK, NY
Jean-Michel Basquiat A TRIBUTE: Important Paintings, Drawings, & Objects: Vintage original 1990s Basquiat announcement card to: Jean-Michel Basquiat at Tony Shafrazi Gallery, New York, September 21 - November 23, 1996. Cover image features a reproduction of Basquiat's Dust Heads (1982). Off-set printed gallery announcement. 7.5 x 6.25 inches (folded closed). Very good overall vintage condition. Some light rub marks to reverse. Published by Tony Shafrazi Gallery, New York, 1996. Unsigned from an edition of unknown. Jean-Michel Basquiat’s dramatic life and iconic paintings—which variously feature obsessive scribbling, enigmatic symbols and diagrams, and iconography including skulls, masks, and the artist’s trademark crown—make him one of the most famous artists of the 20th century. The self-taught painter embraced graffiti before committing to a studio practice. He found a mentor and friend in Andy Warhol, who helped the young artist navigate the 1980s New York art world. Across his oeuvre, Basquiat drew on his own Caribbean heritage; a convergence of African American, African, and Aztec cultural histories; classical themes; and pop cultural figures including athletes and musicians. The immediacy and intellectual depth of his paintings won him widespread acclaim both before and after his untimely death at the age of 27. Related Categories Basquiat Bruno Bischofberger. I was thinking that the shape and structure of the universe repeated itself at every level and suddenly I had the image in my mind of a skier going down a breast. This was it - the universe repeating its shapes - a body looking like a mountain. It was also an example of two realities coexisting. The picture could be seen as a landscape and it could also be seen as a body. Although they were different, both perceptions were right at the same time.
