Art Deco period clock designed and manufactured by Hammond Clock Co. of Chicago. This is the Grenadier Synchronous clock featuring Laurens Hammond's innovated electric motor. The face of the clock's hour numbers, in a Deco font, are set on a gold circle with a beige background. It is stamped HAMMOND Synchronous on the front. The face is contained within a chrome front, in very good condition, and held up by two oblong chrome legs. GRENADIER is inscribed on the back brass leg. Hammonds clock are not self starting so in case the electricity goes out the clocks will have to be restarted by using the START knob on the back. The company was in business from 1928 to 1941. The production of clocks was discountinued in 1935 and the company changed its name to Hammond Organ...

Bears the makers mark, Finot a Versailles. The dial supporting a reclining bronze classical muse on a rectangular white Carrara marble base decorated by a row of gilt bronze beads, the set rests on four feet. A very fine and large Early 18th Century French Louis XV period corne verte (green horn) and ormolu mounted cartel or wall clock. The impressive cartel rests on its original socle - wall mounted base. Signed on the original white enamel dial with hand painted Roman numerals within a hand blown glass door with ormolu trim and decorated with ornate bronze. Impressively chiseled or ciselé work throughout. Original gilding throughout, exquisite patina. The wonderful gilt bronze case is signed by the highly respected maitre ebeniste and clockmaker, A. Gosselin from Paris. It is surrounded by flowers and foliage. Antoine Gosselin ‘A. Gosselin’ (Antoine Gosselin 1731-1794, Paris, master in 1752). Antoine Gosselin who worked actively under Louis XV until the Revolution and was established in rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine, in Paris.
