This is an elegant oval domed monogrammed silver plate serving piece having beautiful lined legs and paw foot feet with a roll over top which opens to a small tray, unfortunately the tray in this piece is not original, it sits nicely but I think the original would have fit into the opening and probably had draining cut-outs. The well below the tray is used to hold ice if the food needs to be kept cool or hot water if it needs to be warm. This server would be gorgeous at your next gathering whether it is formal or casual.
I have not tried to polish it and I think it would polish nicely however, there are numerous silver content test marks on the top, bottom and tray and I think polishing might make the marks stand out more. The dome is signed with a shell symbol , EPNS, England and an identifying number 13003. The tray is marked Castle Silver...
