AllBright

Entertainment/Cultural by Suzy Hoodless in London, GB

Surrounded by the art galleries of Mayfair and the tailors of Savile Row, AllBright members’ club is a glamorous yet cosy home from home AllBright occupies all five floors of an old townhouse on Maddox Street and performs many different roles. First and foremost, it’s a glamorous yet comfortable home from home for members, where they can work and relax. It boasts various bars and restaurants, co-working spaces, a wellness studio and spa and a rooftop terrace. Formerly the home of Dreweatts & Bloomsbury auctioneers, the building was in a tired state when we first saw it. We restored it to its former glory, reinstating wall panelling and installing elegant timber-framed glass doors. The club is surrounded by Mayfair’s historic art galleries and tailors’ ateliers, and our design pays tribute to this heritage. Layers of luxurious fabric introduce colour, pattern and tailoring-inspired details, while bringing a sense of comfort and tactility. Furniture has intriguing stories to tell, including handmade sofas by British brand George Smith and 19th-century bentwood chairs by Thonet. In the co-working spaces, there are changing installations by contemporary artists, keeping alive the area’s gallery tradition in a fresh, modern way. AllBright is a space for women: we wanted it to be strong as well as feminine, handsome rather than pretty. The mood’s conveyed through a vibrant colour palette – warm coral pinks, soft greens, gold – and striking materials, including exotic marbles, colourful wallpapers and polished plaster.
