Apartment, Monticello

Apartment by Fiona Barratt Interiors in Roma, IT

This apartment showcases tying the old with the new, blending modern Italian form with Fiona’s take on elegant brutalism, and is fully immersed with the heritage of the Monticello site. The apartment was curated with a mixture of custom-made bespoke furniture, exquisite lighting and accessories to make the space feel entirely unique. A combination of timbers, metals, leathers and velvets and marble have been used to add depth and texture to the design, which is timeless and beautiful. There is a playful edge to this apartment displayed flawlessly; the pops of vivid colour throughout, the anthropomorphic form of the finishes and textures and the curation of brave artworks positioned throughout to create a striking juxtaposition to the calming interiors. Subtle nods to the surrounding Roman architecture and style with a modern twist that retain the elegance and stature of Roman design fills this apartment. The large open plan living, dining and kitchen area draws you in with a bright, airy palette creating a serene oasis ideal for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views of Rome with wall to wall windows framed beautifully with delicate sheer curtains. The living room rug takes inspiration from the ancient mosaics that have been unearthed in old villas around the city and the stature of the dining table’s strong cylindrical legs pay tribute to the famed Roman columns, with an oversized beading detail that reflects that strength and elegance of Roman life. The bedrooms have a restful ambience created through the layering of soft textures and soothing tones with the Master Bedroom dressing room being a testament to understated luxury and attention to detail. The statement bathrooms have used striking Italian marbles to generate a feeling of indulgence with a modern twist that retains the elegance of Rome with its mix of muted tones and rich bronze metals. This apartment evokes a sense of warmth and homeliness whilst being surrounded by the best of Rome’s views.
