Coral Gables

Vacation Home by Villalobos Desio in Miami, FL

This 1950s home needed to be transformed into a retreat for our client. We also needed to respect its original layout and feel. To do so, we chose to open the house to the outdoors through the use of large windows so as to incorporate the views of the pool and garden to the interior. We maintained the original flow of the layout, added en suite bathrooms to the bedrooms to make the house more suitable to receive guests, and split the large living area into a formal and an informal one to give more layers to the house. We chose to use light colors and mixed up some bold touches of turquoise, blue and citron to give a nod to the sunny location of the property. The house is interspersed with interesting finds, such as vintage Chinese doors, a dome filled with different eggs, a vintage Moroccan mirror, a white peacock, among others, to give the client references to her many likes and aesthetic preferences. The result is a whimsical space where elegance and humor balance each other out.
