Downtown Loft

To outift their 2,800-sf Manhattan loft, Will Ferrell and his wife, auctioneer Viveca Paulin let me cull through their vast furniture collection to select classic pieces by Wegner, Baughmann, Frankl, Dunbar and other icons. Many were given new life through reupholstering while others, such as a Poul Volther chair in one of the three boys’ bedrooms, retained its original mod fabric. We incorporated the Victorian printing factory’s industrial details into the design, then added intriguing new seating like the Smarin boulder-like sofa and ottoman in the living room along with treatments like recycled newspaper wallcovering and upholstered walls. Architectural Digest noted, “Cheerful accents abound…and the art especially strikes an upbeat note.”
