Accabonac House

Beach House by Meyer Davis in East Hampton, NY

We saw an opportunity to rescue this important piece of the Hamptons in this Hugh Newell Jacobsen home, originally built in 1971. This modernist saltbox faces Accabonac Harbor; its footprint was expanded with respect to the integrity of the original architecture. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors disappear when they're open so the living room becomes an extension of the deck and vice versa. The pas de deux between the new and old demonstrates an agility to preserve architecture while also reinventing it.
