Museum Tower

Apartment by Harry Heissmann Inc. in New York, NY

When we started working on this Museum Tower apartment, our friend and architect, the late David McMahon, came up with the brilliant idea of the 'floating' ceilings, as none of the electrical boxes in the slab ceiling were located where we wanted them.... In the Living/Dining Room, we employed mirrored screens to bring in the amazing views of Central Park and the surrounding buildings, which became quite the glittering spectacle at night. The walls were plaster with embedded mica pieces. The Library had handmade paper applied in blocks on the walls, a custom banquette covered in Fortuny fabric and embroidered pillows with a Jean Cocteau design. Striped coral branch Venetian plaster with silver-gilt oxygen bubbles in the Hallway, also featuring a bar with 'disco-ball' walls. The Principal Bedroom had a custom bed by DeAngelis with Tillett Textiles 'Chrysanthemum' upholstery, 'fairy-wing' iridescent Venetian plaster and a light blue ceiling, Zina Studio's 'Miro' paper on silver tea paper ground in the Bathroom.
