Portman Residence

Family Home by CasaQ in New York, NY

East meets West in this spectacular Tribeca Loft that exemplifies style and elegance. We opted for a minimalist aesthetic to compliment a collection of Asian antiques. Keeping the furniture to the essential, we harmonized the interior design with the owner’s art collection sourced from their worldwide travels, combining Buddha statues with a painting by Chagall. Great attention to detail was paid, importing building materials and feature pieces from Florence, and maximising the use of the building’s wide open space and it’s spectacular location by creating a terrace that features a small granite pool of Asian inspiration with the magnificent view of the Tribeca skyline. The centrepiece of the loft is the indoor pond, which creates a Zen atmosphere by virtue of the gentle sounds of flowing water, and the dancing reflections it casts across the room. We kept the tones warm with the wooden flooring and furniture, and injected bursts of colour with natural flowers and Italian stucco walls, to create a comfortable and balanced ambience with timeless liveliness. We created a "gallery-house" to meet the clients' desire to at once take root somewhere and travel the world. This project was featured in Luxury Houses and Architectural Digest.
