Tuscan-Style Coastal Home
Dramatic hillsides line the California Coast at Malibu and allow for rambling properties on promontories overlooking the ocean. Philip Nimmo orchestrated the interiors of one such home, a 15,000-square-foot old-world-style Tuscan farmhouse designed by architect Paul Williger with "exhilarating views,” says Nimmo. Despite the captivating views, attention is easily drawn to the stylish interiors designed by Nimmo, uncluttered yet layered with lush textiles and dramatic contemporary art. Custom upholstery by Nimmo blends with statement antique pieces, such as an Italian chandelier and Victorian armchairs in the living room. The master bedroom displays an exquisite mélange of cultures: an iron bed upholstered in Fortuny, vintage Chinese chest, antique carved French armchair with embroidered Indian upholstery, Italian gilded shield and a contemporary lamp designed by Nimmo himself. The result: a magnificent home where the clients entertain and showcase their ever-evolving art collection.
