Upper East Side Apartment

Apartment by Harry Heissmann Inc. in New York, NY

This Upper Eastside project started out with a great bones apartment and a simple brief: traditional but adventurous... We set out planning the schemes and some turned out more colorful than what the client had thought he wanted but we went with it. The apartment did not have a dining room per se, so we designed a center table (featuring an amazing Christopher Spitzmiller artichoke tureen) with Victoria & Son for the Entry Hall, which could be extended via leaves, surrounded by ballroom chairs with green leather cushions and host and hostess chairs pulled from the living room desk and voila - dinner for 8 or 10.... The extra chairs and leaves (in a custom case lined in felt) could thankfully live in the basement when not in use. While the Library was finished in 'Prussian Blue' fantasy burl by Artgroove, the Living Room is Venetian Plaster, the Kitchen received the iconic Stockwell 'Martinique' paper and a custom Verre Eglomise backsplash by Miriam Ellner. There is a blue bedroom and a more 'neutral' bedroom and a very fun elevator vestibule with a sadly discontinued Brunschwig & Fils 'Lasagna and Tomato Sauce' wallpaper...
